Rosacea

*DISCLAIMER- I AM NOT SEEKING MEDICAL ADVICE!*

I have Rosacea, and I'm curious what cosmetics other women with this condition love to use to help mask the redness?

Currently I use Clinique's Redness Solutions mineral powder and foundation, but I'm not super crazy about the coverage and finish.  I feel that my redness still comes through a bit, and that the make-up looks a little too heavy and powdery.

Any other products you would recommend I give a test drive?  I may go into Sephora soon and talk with them, although that place is very dangerous for me to be in! :-P

I am also considering asking my dermatologist about Skinceuticals Redness Neutralizer, to use in conjection with my Metrogel.

Re: Rosacea

  • I don't have roseacia, but I use green-based concealers to help hide red acne marks. Can you try a green-based primer? I know Almay has one and I've had good luck with their acne defense foundation and concealer. Green neutralizes red (opposites on the color wheel).

  • I don't have rosecea myself, but my mom uses Bare Escentuals Well Rested powder - it's technically supposed to be for under your eyes, but for whatever reason it cancels out the redness when she puts it on her face and neck. If you have a store near you, you can go in and they'll do your makeup for you to find products that would work the best. My mom and I only wear this makeup now since she's seen improvement in her rosacea and I've seen improvement in my acne. Hope that helps!

  • I don't have rosacea either but do tend to get red cheeks and nose especially, and I have had a lot of success with green primer under my regular foundation.
  • I don't have rosacea, but naturally my cheeks are very red and rosy. I love tinted moisturizers, with a foundation over top. I second the bare essentials well rested powder, it works wonders!!
  • Thanks everyone!

I will look into getting a green primer. . . the Clinique products are yellow, which also supposedly cancels out red, and works pretty well, but I just need a little extra help!

I will also check out the well rested powder, I believe Sephora should have it.

  • I have it pretty bad as well, especially in the winter for some reason (maybe the summer my tan makes it look less obvious?). I had my make-up trial last spring and the salon used GloMinerals make-up.  The next morning I was seriously glowing, and I immediately contacted them and bought some.  Not only does it cover SUPER well, but I feel like it's actually soothing the redness?  It may be psychological, but I feel like my skin is improved from using it. It's expensive, so I'd definitely recommend trying it our first and seeing if it's worth the money.
