Signature Drink Ideas...

So FI and I want to have a signature drink, but are unsure of what color it should be. Our colors are kelly green and tangerine. But, our theme is wrestling and we are naming the tables after wrestlers. Because of this, we were thinking of a purple drink that we would call "The Piledriver" (named after the Undertakers signature move, that's just an idea, name and color can be changed depending on what we decide to do)." What do you ladies think? I'm confused on what to do. What would you ladies do?

(I know we have plenty of time, but being home with a broken ankle I am really bored LOL).

  • I wouldn't notice if the color/name of the drink matched the theme of your wedding to be honest. But I don't drink anyway, just if I did I wouldn't notice so people who drink might have a different opinion.
  • If you're going to do something like this, I highly recommend getting a bartender's encyclopedia or something similar and taste testing various colored beverages.  If you like purple, I know a bar that has a drink called "Delete the Day" that was quite deliious.  Perhaps some twist on that with a different name?

  • I would pick a drink you like and offer it. No need to have it match your colors or have some name for it. You really run the risk of going overboard on your "theme".
  • All I know is that I had the perfect citrus-basil martini a few weeks ago and think you should have it.

    Citron Vodka
    Limoncello
    Basil Leaves (for muddling)
    Lime juice

But then again, it's my new obsession.

  • I might be the minority but I don't understand the point or need for a signature drink.  Fi and I know what alcohol we like, and that is what we drink at social gatherings.  I wouldn't order someones signature drink unless it was something I already like to drink!

Well people have them for a few reasons:
1- it's great to try something new, and as a guest at a wedding with an open bar, I'm more inclined to order a different drink than usual because I don't have to pay for something I may only take a sip from and end up hating it.
2- It's interesting to see what kind of tastes other people have (especially if you are going to host them at some point in the future- you'll know they LOVE Gin or coconut rum and may stock up before they visit, if you're that type of person)
3- sometimes a couple can only provide x amount of money towards the alcohol, and doing beer, wine and a signature drink is a slightly less expensive alternative to a full open bar.

  • Maybe ask your caterer/bartender if they have any ideas? I wasnt sure what to do for my signature drink and my caterer suggested blueberry-lemonade (my colors are blue and yellow).  So they are a good resource for fun ideas!
