We got a kitty!

Even tho I am allergic, I got my FI a kitten. FI has been really stressed lately and hes been having some issues with his stomach, so I needed to make him feel better. I got him a kitten!! He LOVES cats and having animals around makes him so much less stressed. I know I am allergic, but I dont have to worry too much right now because he is still a baby & doesnt shed that much. I am going to be making appointments with my allergist soon.

Here he is....

He has no name yet. But he is super spunky. Hes already climbing all over everything & jumping from couch to couch. He is about 8 weeks old I think.

ETA: Hes already causing trouble...

Re: We got a kitty!

  • He is a cutie!  I am allergic to dogs and it makes me so sad because I wasn't as a child and even into my early 20's, then all my allergies shifted around and no more dogs for me.  I've been to the ER a couple of times for allergy induced asthma thanks to a puppy or two.

My DH is a super huge cat guy.  Doesn't care for dogs (sorry Chef D - I would give you much lovin if I could), but he is nuts for cats.  They converse.  He is always telling me what our 2 are thinking or "saying about me."  The man is certifiable and this will help get him into Happy Acres for life.

Do update when kitty has a name!
  • Awe so cute.

Chef would be so disappointed kmm.   He craves attention so much he assumes everyone wants to pet him.  Not that we let him go up to strangers.   But he will just stand there with the sadest face if you keep walking by and not stop to say hi.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Wicked cute! I can't do kitties. achoo!  I like it when they are tiny though. I liked it when the one I had walked on my back as a kitten.

    I'll pet Chef!!

This actually worked. He said the word muffy reminds him of a vagina. Mufasa is offically out of the running. I keep referring to him as Thor, so maybe it will just stay that way.

  • Very adorable!

I wish you lots of patience at 3am. Kittens are like human babies and have no concept of night time.

My FI is allergic to our cats, but cat love overrules it (his and mine, lol). It seems to be a lot better now that we're in a house, our tiny apartment must have condensed everything.

I do this, oh dear! I always thought it would be my choice to work with children that would push me over the edge, not the kitty conversations.

Sierra, Thor is adorable. And I love the name!

So true! We're pretty lucky though, all of out cats sleep at night with us. Even my crazy cat, who insists upon sleeping ON me all night, every night. When she was a kitten I thought I would lose my mind, she would try to crawl under the covers to wake me up in the middle of the night and if I locked her out of the bedroom she would cry all night. It's hard to believe that was 8 years ago now!

  • Thanks for the comments everybody! My allergies haven't been bad, yet. I have a lot of allergy meds on hand for when I need them. Thor was up at 5am this morning. I gave him some food and then he came back into bed until about 7am. I noticed that he gets really sleepy after eating. This must be a kitten thing. He seems to be adjusting well. We had a little "accident" on a pair of my jeans that were laying on the floor. I'm just shocked that it didn't happen in the bed. He is a little bit of a spaz...already jumping on everything. He even jumps on the bed already! But he's such a sweetheart. I did get him for my FI but he seems to be a mamas boy. He has such a personality. Today Thor is spending the day at FMILs house. I didn't really feel comfortable leaving him alone today while I dog sit for my mom. And I couldn't bring him with me because the dogs are both very big and a little too rough for a baby kitten. She loves him and has an adult cat of her own. Her cat is babysitting Thor, lol.

</div><div>i can promise you that you surely do this with far more sanity than DH.  If my cat (Nermal) is sitting on the love seat instead of with me, he tells me Nermal is ignoring me because of whatever fill-in-the-blank offense I have committed.  Blah blah blah.</div><div>
</div><div>Then there is his cat, Einstein. 18 1/2 pounds of really happy but extremely stupid cat.  The dude is dumber than a rock but he has an awesome life and is quite happy about it.  DH thinks Einstein is a super-genious like in the old Wiley Coyote cartoons.  Nuthin could be farther from the truth!
