Birth Control

So, I'm getting married in a month. And I've been so busy with starting my new job, just moved, and planning the wedding that I completely forgot about starting birth control. I know people reccomend starting bc about 3 months before the wedding so your body has time to adjust and if you have any weird side effects everything can be worked out beforehand. So, my question is, should I still go for the birth control since i don't have the time to iron out these issues? Or should I just stick with condoms? (sucks, I know, but i really don't want to get pregnant)
What do you guys think?

Ditto Kristan. Also, if you're worried about side effects then you should definitely hold off on starting anything until you talk to your doctor.

I second PP.  That said, I gained about 5 pounds my first month on birth control, and my breasts swelled up...so, there are physical side effects you doctor probably won't be able to predict.  And you may end up on one or two that don't work for you and make you sick before you find one that works.

I agree with PPs. Talk with your doctor. You should always talk to your doctor when it comes to possibly going on medication.

You should talk to tarradesign about her dress issues at her wedding and it wasn't even a result of birth control. You might not be as luck as she was.

Yup.

Definitely talk to your doctor.  If we were to give advice, it would be anecdotal and based on personal experience.  So want my personal experience advice?  Stay far, far away from hormonal birth control forever.  Helpful, eh?

Wth is up with ppl treating a wedding chatboard as WebMD today? This one I actually feel comfortable answering though... OP, if you can't remember to even start oral BC, how do you expect yourself to remember to take it daily? For reals.

I agree with everything PP's said - especially  remembering to take the the pill which is one of the most important things about taking this form of birth control. Talking to your doctor is  the best option.

No need to be so insulting people
This is, afterall, the "chitchat" board...just wanted to get some peoples personal opinions of their experiences with BC, not professional medical advice.

I'm not an idiot. Taking a pill every day doesn't require as much time coordination as finding a doctor, taking time off of my 60 hour work week, and getting to the office without a car. You got married, surely that day came much faster than you were anticipating as well. Time got away from me.

So... you're going to magically find a doctor who has availability in the next month at a time convenient to you so that you can obtain a prescription while working your 60 hour work week and living without a car? Really?

And I like how you're upset that we're insulting someone we don't know when you didn't give any information besides 'should I start birth control or not?' I'm a medical professional, but not everyone here is, and your question was not about birth control experiences, it was about how your body would respond to birth control. We're not your doctors -- we have no idea how your body would respond, nor do we know if you should start birth control one month instead of three months prior to your wedding. Those are questions for YOUR doctor.

Definitely talk to your doctor, but since you clarified you were looking for other people's experiences, I had awful side effects for the first month and almost exactly on day 31 they all disappeared. Before that was awful though, and some took a few days to leave completely (such as the random acne that flared up).

Also, and I know YOU know this, but it's not clear from your post.  Your doctor also probably doesn't know how your body will respond.  Everyone responds to different medications, especially birth control pills, differently.  Aside from a few things, there is not really any way to predict it.
