Super plus size bride and the strapless dress

I'm a first time bride, who feel in love with a strapless dress, but I'm worried that It will make me look ever bigger. SO my question is for other plus size women, do I pick the on eI fell in love with or go with a pretty dress thats more fattering but i dont love?

I am a super plus size girl 300+lbs but still an hour glass figure for the most part just a large one. I also have to consider my but as well I have a G cup.
Here is the dress in question

and here is the second dress that I dont like as much, and since Im wering a bird cage veil I also question the seond dress if it goes together

Re: Super plus size bride and the strapless dress

  • I'm probably stating the obvious when I say they can add a sleeve. If you know you love the rest of the dress, you should order it and see how it looks when it comes in.

I have 2 plus size girls in my bridal party. I don't know their actual weight, but one took a 27 and one took a 28 in the bridesmaid dresses. They both told me that strapless was not an option for them.
  • That's about my size 26/28 dress. I asked about sleves and they said the way the back is made that sewing slevesw old be problemattic.
  • How would you be most comfortable? If you would feel comfortable and beautiful and bride-like in the first dress and it's what you want, then go for it. The pictures will be forever and how you feel in the dress will also show in the photos - not just how you look.
  • What about a jacket or bolero?  You can get the look of sleeves without the trouble of adding them.

  • You are plus size. (so am I).  I don't think strapless will make you look bigger or smaller.  Check out the plus size board and look at the "show us your dress thread" at the top.  There are lots of us who got strapless dresses.

BM dresses are totally different. They don't have the boning that wedding gowns do.
  • Definitely go with the gown you love.  It's gorgeous, and I'm sure you'll feel gorgeous in it.  There's no reason we plus sized ladies can't wear a fabulous strapless dress.

I'm plus sized and had a strapless dress. I didn't feel too weird about wearing one although now I wish I'd picked straps (your mileage may vary).

The main reason I didn't like it on me in the end, was because my strapless bra apparently, after all the time leading up to the wedding, wasn't suitable a week out, according to the seamstress. She advised me to go without, that the shape was better etc.

I was hitching the damn thing up all day because I'm a G cup, and the weight of my boobs was pulling the front of the dress down. I felt obscene, and it's something I notice in all the photos (though people told me I looked fine).

I'm not trying to tell you to not go strapless with the dress you love. Just to please make sure that you have enough time to look at all the options and that you feel comfortable - thats the most important thing. :)

    It's a lovely dress, btw. :)

  • PS. I'm an H cup, and I was able to wear strapless with no problem. I did have a longline strapless bra try www.lindathebralady.com for bra choices and a properly fitted dress. My dress didn't slip or slide at all.
  • Thanks ladies for all the advice. It's all very helpful. In the end I talked it out with my bridesmaids and my hubby-to-be and while they felt I should ear whatever I want, they also pointed out how selfconcious I am about my large cheast. They help me see how the second dress would cover enough to make me feel comfortable while still feeling beautiful. While I love the way dress one looks I think I have to feel comfortable in the end, and the seond dress is lovely too :)
