Mother of the Groom Attire

My mother (MOB) went to Alfred Angelo and purchased a formal dress to wear for the wedding. Traditionally, I know that the MOG is supposed to wear something comparible.

How 'off' is it going to look if she wears just a pants set and sweater? There hasn't been talk of her buying a dress and I don't want to force her into wearing something super fancy. I'm just not even sure how to bring it up since I don't see her/talk to her very often. If she's ok with not being as formal, I'm ok with it- but I'm afraid she might feel awkward if she sees how my Mom is dressed vs what she chose.

  • She can wear whatever she wants.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Ditto PPs. I always like to post a real example of what the women in my wedding wore, to give new posters here a sense that it doesn't really matter if the moms match.

    Me: Formal ivory silk gown
    Bridesmaids: Light gray chiffon dresses
MOB: Gray pencil skirt and fuscia cardi set
MOG: Black and white geometric print cocktail dress
StepMOG: Formal floor length navy blue halter gown

    No one cared.
