How many stems in your bouquet?

Just wondering how many stems were in your bouquets and what you thought about the size? I am still deciding between roses and cala lillies (or a combo), and I am also still deciding between a cascading bouquet or just carrying long stemmed flowers in my arms. I am not sure how many dozen flowers is typical, if there is even a typical. And also I am concerned about how heavy it will be! In addition I am pretty small, only about 115 pounds and 5'2 so I do not want to look disproportionate. Any advice would be much appreciated.

  • I'm not sure exactly for my bouquet, but you can take a look at it at the picture below (I think a dozen roses, dozen calla lilies, and some hydrangea perhaps?) Of course, I'm 5'11", so you can keep that in mind as well.

  • I don't think there is a "typical" size--I know I have a friend who was completely overwhelmed by the weight of her boquet. They are heavier than they might appear if you have your florist incorporate a LOT of heavy blooms with tons of petals. If you're concerned about weight or size just let your florist know.

  • When I was talking to a florist we were going to go with 8 garden roses.
  • My bouquet was ~ 2 dozen tulips.  I'm a simple girl.

  • My bouquet was huge but that was what I wanted.  As far as number of stems, I couldn't even venture a guess.

If you want to get a feel for the size of the bouquet, I would talk with your florist.  They may be able to roughly put together something for you to hold and see about the size.

Here is my bouquet.  I had many different types of flowers and it was quite large (and heavy).

  • I couldn't tell you how many stems I had in my bouquet, it was a very large assortment of flowers, but a medium size bouquet. Orginally I wanted a large cascading bouquet. My florist talked me out of it thank goodness. It would have weighed a ton being fresh flowers. Also a big bouguet would have taken away from some of the details of my dress. So my florist made me the perfect size that didn't look too small, but didn't take away from my dress either.

I had 26 white roses (26 is a significant number for DH & I). It cost around $85.

It was the perfect size for me, big enough to be noticeable in pictures, but small enough to be easy to hang on to.

I am about your size and my florist told me a cascade wouldn't be wise due to my short stature...
