Bra? Braless?

I have a corset back dress and I was planning on going without a bra.  My photographer suggested a strapless push up bra.  Any experience w/this type dress and a bra?  I dont want more of an "upper back butt" than I already have LOL

Re: Bra? Braless?

  • Can you have a bra built into your dress?  It can be sewed in and I hear that it works really well.  I have a number of shirts and dresses from Smart Set that are designed like this, and they are awesome.
I unfortunately know nothing about these "push-up" strapless.  I don't even think I would under the physics of them.

  • I would ask your alterations person about the bra, or maybe your coordinator (if you have one).  Why does your photog think you need a strapless pushup? Have they seen you in your dress? I thought one of the positive aspects of the corset back was that you didn't have to wear a bra!
  • My seamstress said didn't need one and when I tried one on it looked awful had a front muffin top.  My other photographer (boudior) suggested it but I dont need to look like I have huge boobs!  I agree..braless:)
  • Ask to put cups in your dress every formal dress I have since prom I've done this for. I'm not big on top but it gives me a lift and looks a bit bigger. I've never had an issue with this and it's way more comfortable then a strapless backless bra. I've done both cups are just a million times more comfortable

  • Have cups sewn in the front. Best of both worlds

  • I wouldn't take dress/underwear advice from my photographer. Just saying. If you're comfortable going braless, just go for that.
  • I have a corset back dress and wear a 34E and there is no way you can fit a bra under there if it is laced correctly. If it fits properly in the waist, it will hold you up and support you beautifully. I don't know what your photog is talking about. If you are completely flat chested, then I would sew in padded cups, but anything bigger than a B will look amped up in a corset

  • I have DDs so when I tried on my corset-back dress with a strapless bra my boobs were up to my chin.  Braless is the way to go for me, it works out great with my dress.  There's enough lining and structure to the dress for this, and also avoid porno-boob.
