Wedding Dress..... opinions?

Please tell me what you *honestly* think of this wedding dress.

And oh.. sash or no sash?? Im going for a look that is elegant, timeless and modern.
And.... Tiara or no tiara??

Thank you sooo much! Opinion much appreciated.

Re: Wedding Dress..... opinions?

  • I think it is absolutely stunning!

And I think the sash works well.  You could always do more of a blingy sash if you wanted to get a bit sassy :)  But the sash helps to really define your tiny waist.

No sash.  Or, maybe a jeweled sash instead of the side bow.  Bows always look girly and not sophisticated to me.  My dress came with a brooch on a sash that tied in a bow on the back.  I made the seamstress rip that bow right off.

I love the dress - it reminds me of my own.
  • Oh, I love the dress!  I actually like the sash, too - highlights your waist very prettily!

  • Love the dress and it looks better on you with the sash.
  • The dress is lovely, and I vote sash.

</div><div>The dress is both modern and classic and lace is timeless.  I like the sash but out of the entire look this is the only thing that strikes me as "trendy".

  • Beautiful!  And I love the sash on it-- not too much and it just adds a little extra beauty.  But either way its gorgeous

  • I think a jeweled sash is more timeless than a colored or plain satin one. People have been having jewels around their waistlines in weddings for a long time, whereas this satin sash trend is going to be on its way out soon, if it isnt already. It's not a bad thing, but you said you wanted timeless.

I have found that most places will sew the jeweled belt to the dress instead of actually having it tie, this way it looks like it is an intentional part of the dress. That could be a good option for you

  • Dress + sash looks fab on you!
  • with sash, it adds a little something around the waistline and accents your wonderful shape.
  • Looks similar to mine so I LOVE it! And I like the sash.

  • You, and that dress, are gorgeous! I also like the definition that the sash gives your waist. I personally think the bow looks great on you, but you might also try a jeweled belt as well. As far the tiara or not, I'd need to see pictures. There are tiaras and then there are TIARAS.
  • I LOVE the gown and think you might be better off with a jeweled sash. Not a big fan of the bow sash.

I think the tiara is cute as well :)

  • If you do a jeweled sash I would definitely *not* also do a tiara. Way too over-the-top.

I'd like to see how a jeweled & lace sash would look on it. The dress definitely does 'need' some kind of waist/belt/sash thing.  Well, not need, but looks better on you with it.
  • very pretty, but I would go with a beaded blingy type of sash. Definitely needs a sash of some sort

</div><div>Gorgeous dress! I personally love the sash, but I might be biased because I love bows in general. While I usually hate tiaras, the one you're wearing in the last picture looks beautiful with your dress. You totally pull it off.

  • I love the dress and vote for a jeweled sash.  I am also in the hate tiaras camp.

[QUOTE]I, personally, dislike tiaras on anyone who is not either a member of the nobility or a beauty pageant winner.  JMHO.  I think they are pretentious.

<div>Agreed with CMGr. When I see a woman wearing a tiara I think, "Her father spoiled her ROTTEN to make her think she's a pretty pretty princess". </div><div>
</div><div>But I LOVE your gown. It's absolutely beautiful on you, and I love the sash. </div>
  • I love the dress - it is gorgeous with or without the sash but I think the sash gives your waist some more definition. I'd definitely go with a blingy one though. The tiara you have on in the pic looks beautiful.
  • I really don't like tiaras.  They are meant for royalty or beauty queens.

I do, however, love me a jeweled headband (as you can see in my sig pic).  So if you are wanting some bling on your head a nice headband is the way to go.

  • Thank you so much for the opinions everyone..

I think, to those that disliked the tiaras ... I agree with you. The store lady just suddenly put it on my head and I felt like a princess from then after... so i guess was clouded also with all the feelings about the dress. So my annoying impulsive self just purchased it for $400- apparently it's by monique h'uillier!! But I would regret it years from now if I actually wear it.

Thanks for the advice.. hopefully i can sell it off on ebay or something.
  • Can't you take it back? I would think they would have a return policy? Although I'm sure you could sell it on ebay.

And I agree that a blingy hair clip or headband would look great.

Its gorgeous and super flattering on you! I definitely think this is elegant, timeless, and modern. The cut and sash make it modern but the lace makes it timeless.

I would do the sash since it helps define your waist, but I wouldn't do the bow. I'd do a simple one with a blingy embellishment in the middle. Maybe a small bow or a pretty knot where it ties in back. I feel like with the lace its too much to have a big bow.

I wouldn't do a tiara. I'd do an embellished headband if anything. The lace and sash plus your jewelry and makeup and shoes and etc will be busy and over the top with a tiara added. Modern elegance is about keeping it simple.

  • I love this dress with the sash! I do agree maybe add a little sparkle to the sash. My honest opinion to a tiara is NO. I do think they are a little childish. Now a headband or something along those lines would be more appropriate. Hope this helps!
