How to attach a veil without a comb

Hello! I am getting married in May and have bought a beautiful raw cut cathedral length veil to wear. I would like to attach my veil without a comb and without doing too much damage to the veil with bobby pins. I'm not planning on wearing a tiara or any other sort of headpiece. I am a little nervous about just balancing it on my head, has anyone seen this done in real life? I would like it to look like this: http://www.brides.com/blogs/aisle-say/2013/01/lady-marys-wedding-headband-downton-abbey-season-3-premiere.html Thank you!

Re: How to attach a veil without a comb

  • Um, I'm pretty sure the veil in the first picture is attached to a comb... but you could try bobby pins through the tulle.

  • I think she's talking about the Downtown Abby picture lower down. If it's that big, you could probably get away with just placing it over your head/face. But that would annoy me to no end. Especially with it all moving around. I'd agree with the previous poster and use some bobby pins to hold it in place.

A lot of actresses, dancers and cheerleaders sew their headpieces (or fake curls) into their hair.

You could try this with some clear thread if you really don't want to sew the veil itself to a comb.
  • That veil is attached with a comb! Look online at "drop veils". It has a comb but gives the illusion it's just on top of your head. Like this: http://www.etsy.com/listing/92813181/gorgeous-chapel-drop-bridal-veil-cut?ref=shop_home_active

This is actually very similar to the veil I bought. Thank you!
  • I would try a hat pin, or pearl stick pin. That way you don't hurt the veil, and you wont really see it either. That is what i am going to try for mine. Hope this helps....
