Veils

I'm going to be honest; I want one, am going to get one, but I have NO idea how to go about picking one out!

I think I want either shoulder or elbow length, but, much beyond that, I'm pretty stumped.

I'm fairly positive that I want it sheer enough to see all the color and lace-up on the back of my dress, but, then when it comes to selecting hair accessories, the comb to hold it in place and all the other stuff, I'm not exactly sure WHAT to do or what to really look for.

How did everyone go about selecting their veil and hair accessories?  Or, any advice or tips or suggestions?

Thanks mmk1324!  I'm making payments on the dress until it comes in, so maybe when I go in with my BP and to make my next payment, I'll talk to them about looking at veils too.  Or maybe the visit after that.  But that's a good suggestion.    Thanks!!

I just selected a veil. I'm having a design custom modified so that the second / back layer is cathedral length.  The veil is glimmer ivory tulle with French antique lace applique that have AB sequins and beading.  The threads are silver and the overall look of the lace is a pale champagne/gold, with centers of pale ivory.  I am going to add a bit of gold beading and embroidery when I get it (I have a minor in Fashion Design.)

I also spoke to another etsy vendor who was offering some similarly interesting designs, Laura Gonzalez.  She's based in Texas.  She has gold lace designs, hard to find.

A third vendor I was speaking to, who also had lovely and atypical designs is GlamGal...she can do custom work, including embroidery of various animals or flowers.  She can do gold embroidery, hard to find.

I went with Alisa because of the price difference between the various types. Her veil, which I liked just as much as the two from these other desigs, was more affordable. As you see, what I was seeking was a veil with gold elements, and metallic not just gold-tone.

Etsy has the best selection of unusual veils, that don't burst the budget the way antique veil vendors would.  In case you want something a bit fancy but don't have $500 or more.

I did start pawing through Etsy just to get ideas of what I liked and didn't like about different veils; pinning the ones I liked on my Pinterest board, etc and trying to note what I liked and didn't like about each of them.

I suspect I'm just over thinking this whole durn thing.

That's such a fabulous idea!  There are so many veil styles out there; it makes it nearly impossible to choose one.  Changing your veil is a more cost effective and it's a subtle way to switch into party mode at the reception. 

For my wedding, I wore a birdcage veil.  I lifted the blusher and pinned it back after the ceremony.
