Dirty wedding shoes!!!!

I wore my wedding shoes to my bridal shower, because they were the only ones that matched my dress and I thought it would be nice to get more than one use out of them. Somehow they got covered in dirt/scuffs/some random sludge!! They weren't that expensive, so I'm not devastated or anything, but I am feeling pretty annoyed at myself. I know they won't show under my gown, but I'd still like to get them cleaned.

Where do you think is the best place to take them: a shoe repair guy, or a dry cleaner? They are ivory and feel like silk satin, although I'm not sure if they actually are. The style is Electra by Nina, if anyone is interested in looking them up.

Thank you!

    You can do it yourself.

Get some microfiber towels (or other really absorbent towel).

Wipe as much dirt off as you can with a dry towel

Use a bit of cold water on the stain, and blot (not rub) dry ASAP

You could use a bit of soap like Woolite or clear handsoap.

So long as you are really good about blotting and drying the shoes right away (no air drying or rubbing as that will cause streaking) it should be fine.
  • I would not recommend using water if they are a silk/satin.  You will get water marks.  An acetone based product would work better.  We clean shoes every day in our warehouse.

  • Tide to go pen. Make up remover.
  • Have them dyed a color and then you can wear them again!! Easy solution.
