Looking for inexpensive veil option

I am looking for an inexpensive veil option for my wedding. I only plan on wearing the veil for pictures and the ceremony so I really do not want to spend too much, but I still want it to look nice. Are there any online stores that you have used that have good quality merchandise?? All of the bridal shops want close to $250 for veils. Ugh!

Re: Looking for inexpensive veil option

  • I spent $150 on mine at David's Bridal.  It is still a little higher than what I wanted to spend but I absolutely love it!
    Good Luck!

  • I would try www.valuveil.com. Many brides on this site have used them with great success.

I would also try searching Etsy.

  • I got mine from White Dove Bridal for about $60. I had a lot of special requests (add ons and special shapes), so it was more expensive.

[QUOTE]Talk to your seamstress. Veils are simple, having one made might be cheaper.

    <div>This. I had mine made for $30.</div>
  • I got mine on ebay for 17 bucks :D.  It was fingertip length, and had beading throughout.  Bridal salons WAY overprice veils.  I have no idea why anyone pays that much for tulle.

  • I made my own with about 6 yards of tulle ($1.99 a yard), and sewed it to a comb. I purchased my own headband.
  • I'm trying to make my own but if that fails I'll suck it up and buy it from etsy for about $160. Ditto talking to a seamstress and checking out ebay.
  • I purchased my tulle birdcage veil on etsy for around $35
  • i have seen online used bridal gown websites and they have name brand veils going for like 19.00 for a cathedral length.its so worth your look.

I plan on getting mine through bellabridalveils on etsy. $30 for a waist length, one layer, pencil edge veil.
  • I'm making my own. It's incredibly simple. Even hand beading or sewing on lace isn't difficult, just time-consuming. 3 yds of tulle is more than enough for a veil chapel length or shorter. I have seen really cheap veils and can see the size of the tulle netting is bad in pictures. You want a fine net, not one with large "holes". The tulle at the craft stores is okay, but some cheaper veils may not use stuff even that good. As PP said, you can get tulle for $1.99 or less per yard and I got a package of six plastic combs also for $1.99 at the craft store. I may upgrade to metal, though, which can be found in hair/beauty stores. I bought a few yards of lace to edge my veil for $3.99 per yard, but I had a 40% coupon, so it was even less. There are all kinds of tutorials and sources of information out there. It really isn't too difficult and you get to have full control over the end product. Plus, it's SO MUCH cheaper!

I just ordered mine from here:  https://www.etsy.com/shop/SimplyBlueBridal

I haven't received it yet, so I can't comment on the quality, but they were responsive to my questions and have good reviews.  I paid $45 for mine.

I got mine from Ebay. I am really not sure if I want to wear a veil or not, so I was going for CHEAP but not totally crappy looking. This is mine and it works perfectly for me. Does it have genuine Swarovksi crystals or the texture of a $500 veil? No, but it also doesn't look like one better used for Halloween or a bach party. Worth the $14 to me.

  • I did Etsy... It came in and I LOVE it.  Wasn't super cheap because it was cathedral length and 3 tier elbow on 2 combs, but compared to what I would have spent it WAS amazingly cheap and gorgeous.

I do a search on Etsy and then sort by price.  Once I get past all the crazy extra things that really don't work I look at ratings, comments, and where they ship from (and for how much) to make a decision.  Found Etsy because of TK so thanks everyone!

  • I'm another big fan of etsy.  They were much cheaper than anywhere else I was looking.  Also all the vendors I was comparing had over 200+ 5 star ratings.  So, even though I couldn't see them in person I was confident that there were plenty of people complimenting the work.

  • Has anyone actually used valuveil.com? I looked at it last night and the prices seem too good to be true.

    @KnotPorscha, vendor alert!
  •    My mom gets pretty nice ones for under 10$ on Ebay. She is a costumer for theater and often needs such things. I'm not wearing a veil or I'd probably just get one of those.
  • I bought mine at Hobby Lobby (http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/white-satin-edge-veil-with-rhinestones-256776/) and used a 40% off coupon. I didn't want to spend too much on my veil and it was exactly how I wanted. =)
