Vendors Grr

I'm not even sure if this is the right place to post. However, how long did it take you to get bids from vendors? Or more specifically, when you made updates to the proposal and asked them to change things, how long did it take for them to get you an updated copy?

I get that I work at a desk all day and am able to check email as needed, and not everyone works at the pace that I do.

However, what is an appropriate amount of time?

Met with the girl who is doing our floral, making my veil, and also doing our menu cards and programs last Thursday. She said she would send a bid, so I could write her a check Sunday. Sunday came and went, and I ran into her at church and she said she would get it to me like Monday or Tuesday. It's Thursday...

I'm mildly frustrated. I know everything will go fine the day of the wedding, but it's just stuff like this that peeves me a little.

Re: Vendors Grr

  • I think that is a good sign of how serious she is taking your event. I would email her, wait one day and move on.
  •  I typically just lurk on this board but I wanted to add my input on this. My vendors all bid within 24 hours and every single one of them has returned my emails within 1 business day at the most; also they all emailed me their contracts (and updated contracts when changes were made) when they said they would.

That being said I am planning a destination wedding so I won't see my vendors in person until the wedding day, and maybe your girl is taking her time because you can see each other in person (at church). However if her response times are not consistent with what she is promising you now, what happens if you need to make last-minute changes one or two days before the wedding? I agree that you need to talk to her but this would be a red flag to me.
  • Thanks girls! You guys are totally right.
