How many slices

I'm meeting with bakers about the cake, and am trying to figure out costs. I need help deciding how many slices to get per wedding and grooms cake...

Lets say there are 200 people attending. What should the numbers for both? Do you get a wedding cake that will feed everyone and then a grooms cake?

I have NO idea if there is a ratio I'm supposed to follow for this. Thanks!

Re: How many slices

  • Just remember that a typical wedding cake slice is only a 2"x3" piece of cake.  Now, if you are anything like me, that little slice of cake is way to small when compared to my love of the sweet stuff so consider having a 1.5 slices per person.

Also, if the grooms cake is a different flavor then the wedding cake then you should really have enough of both so that each guest can have a slice of each.  What if one of your guests really wanted a piece of chocolate grooms cake but you only had enough slices to feed 50 people and when they finally got up to the table it was gone?  That would be one unhappy guest.

  • I would make sure each cake has enough to feed every guest so basically if you have 200 guests you will need 400 slices of cake.
