Getting in Shape

Hi, I'm new here :)

Hi Ladies!

I've avoided this board for months even though I knew it was inevitable that I'd need some support from you all :)

My wedding is June 1st, and even though I really don't have any weight to lose, I need to be accountable to someone! I have the biggest sweet tooth...I could eat DQ blizzards and swedish fish everyday! I've been on-and-off sugar free and processed carbs free for the last 6 months or so. I'm at a healthy weight, I just don't love my body shape, and I am really determined to look my absolute BEST on our wedding day!

Right now it's been 2 weeks with essentially no sugar (even eliminating milk-11 grams of sugar!) I really find that giving most carbs up helps me to loose belly fat quickly, even though it's torture for me!!

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself because I hope to be adding my food and workout info on the accountability threads with you all! I look forward to getting to know you!

Re: Hi, I'm new here :)

  • Hey! Welcome to the board!

It sounds like you're doing some things right, but to be perfectly honest if you don't learn how to give in to cravings in moderation you might not have long-term success.

I recommend you check out our daily accountability threads and participate.

  • Thanks girls! Right now for workouts all I've found to do is pilates dvds and I've gotten up to 120 squats on this 200 squats program FI wanted to do haha. I live in an extremely rural area with no gyms so I've been waiting for the weather to warm up so that I can start running! I used to run 3-5 miles a day and do lots of 5Ks for fun.

I feel like I need to post a picture of myself to prove that I'm not horribly unhealthy or something!

I used to do the Daily Plate but I've struggled with anorexia in the past and calorie counting like that fuels my obsessiveness. I'm not looking to lose weight (I'm 5'8", 134lbs) I just want to be able to come on here and say "I made it another day without gorging myself on cake!" :)
  • Fruitsnack - and that is what Daily Accountability threads will do for you! If you're already in your idea weight bracket, the accountability threads just sort of keep you on track with that and let you check in with us...we chat in there and a lot of great health tips and pointers inevitably come up.

  • Hey Fruit... nice to see I'm not the only June bride who's been avoiding this board, Ha!

From what you've posted it sounds like you're doing alright but will benefit most from checking in here to keep yourself accountable. I understand fully, btw, because I have a hard time staying accountable and consistent in my nutrition program and workout schedule. So, I feel your pain.

I joined Weight Watchers back in October to keep me accountable with my food intake and to push me to weigh in every week. It's been a slow process but I'm down 5 lbs since I started and have kept it off. Considering I'm only trying to lose 15 lbs total, I feel like I'm still on track.

Today I joined a Pilates studio and took my first class on a reformer machine! Whoa, what a workout! My arms and legs are like jelly and I have so much energy after just one class, it's amazing. I'm signed up for 12 sessions in April and another 12 in May... I think by my wedding on June 8th I will be stylin' :)

Anyway, just wanted to join your thread and be supportive. Hopefully I will see you here and back on our month board in the next 8 weeks leading up to our weddings! Good luck to you!
