little registry help please

I have lots of time to sort registry but wasnt sure if i should set one up. I am getting married where i live now (ireland) and some lovely family and friends will be making the trek over. I know how much of an expense it will be and was wondering if my FI and I should still make a small registry. FI and I have lived together for 2 years now so we have most things you would get off a registry. I dont want my friends and family to spend a lot of money to come over then feel they need to buy us a gift.

  • If there are things you want, then make a small registry. People may still want to get you a small gift, or those who won't be attending might want to send something. Even if I spend money on a DW, I still want to give some sort of gift, even if it's smaller than what I would normally give. So I would appreciate a registry so I had some guidance as to what you liked/wanted.

Trust me. No one feels that they NEED to buy you a gift. They will do so because they want to.

I think it would be fine if you created a small registry of some "upgrade" items at a well-known store like Macys (you can do it online). Macys will also ship internationally, which would make things easier for everyone.
  • Apologises for the phrase 'feel they need to buy us a gift'. i re-read it as it was bolded and it came across quite greedy. Of course guests have the choice to purchase a gift or not. Thank you for your advice. I may consider some possible 'upgrade' items sooner to the time.
