What matches this purple bridesmaid dress?

I originally wanted grey bridesmaid dresses (and then wanted to continue that theme throughout)..however, I ended up falling in love with these purple bridesmaid dresses which suit the girls and were so cheap!!!  http://www.inweddingdress.com/style-br035.html  So I ordered them and now need to try to make decisions on flowers, invitations and table centerpieces that go with it.
My questions:
What flowers would match?
Do you think that silver will still go (in terms of invitations?Jewelry)
Do you think it would be too bold to go with purple flowers for table decorations?
Do you think it would be too bold for me to have a purple bouquet? (Im thinking I should stick to white/soft pink for me?)
Im not very creative and have a hard time trying to 'picture' what colour schemes I could add.
Any advice? Ideas?

Re: What matches this purple bridesmaid dress?

  • My sister wore a gown very near that color to my wedding.  She was the maid of honor.

She carried a bouquet of white tulips.  I carried a bouquet of dark purple tulips.

    Yes, silver matches.

No, we used purple flowers on our table.

You can look at our pictures in my married bio (link in siggy).
  • Silver/grey would definitely go with dark purple dresses.

For my bouquet I had a combination of purple, green and white and it was gorgeous.  The BMs had similar bouquets as me except smaller.  We used the same color scheme with the table centerpieces.

I think if you did a purple and grey/silver color scheme it would be gorgeous.  Just google "purple and grey weddings" and a ton of ideas pop up.

You could still totally do grey if you want.  Grey and purple are great together.

My advice to any bride is let your florist decide!  Give them some basic ground rules and let them do their thing, they know what's in season better than you do and what colors different flowers come in and it gives them the flexibility to change things up if the week of your wedding the tulip crop looks really sad.  I told my florist I wanted purple bouquets for my girls (they were in blue, purple was our accent color) and a blue bouquet for me with no dyes.  I pointed out which purples I liked so he'd know the general shade and that was it.  I loved my flowers.  Personally; I wouldn't do purple BM bouquets with purple dresses.  It's just personal preference.  Between these two options:

I much prefer the contrast to matchy-matchy.  But do what you like.  if purple and gray will be your primary colors I think white is a good BM flower color (since there aren't really gray flowers...)

Silver and purple are beautiful together; but your girls dresses do not have to match your invitations and it's really best to let them pick their own jewelry - it will make them more comfortable and you won't notice anyway.

Your girls also do not have to match your decor.  I get what you're trying to do here - purple has now become the "theme", and that's fine - I think purple centerpieces will be beautiful.  But if you decide you like something else don't get too stuck in the "everything has to be purple now" mentality.

As I mentioned above I did a blue bouquet to go with the blue BM dresses, I really liked the way it looked.  And I love the second picture above with the purple in the bride's bouquet - I say go for it!
  • Everyone else gave you good advice on things that match.  But, I wouldn't plan much more until you actually have the dresses.  Inweddingdress is a notorious knockoff site, and it's very possible that the dresses will arrive unwearable or not even the same color as the photo.

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but knockoffs rarely work out well.

  • Have you thought of complimenting the purple with yellow or orange flowers? It really gives it a pop
  • Before you order check out this list of knock off sites.

  • I think OP is a vendor.  She has two posts and both of them talk about buying a dress from this knock off website.  She supposedly bought a flower girl dress from there last October, and her wedding date is listed as March 2013.

  • I have purple bridesmaid dresses and am using Picasso Cala Lilies.

    gorgeous dresses!!!
for the bouquets you can do a mix of a lighter purple with some pink to give it a pop!
Silver would definitely go. a freind of mine, her invitations were silver with purple ink.

[QUOTE]Everything doesn't have to match perfectly.  Use what you LIKE. Nobody will grab Nancy, the Maid of Honor, drag her to the table and hold her skirt up to see if it matches the linens.

Funny...  One of my BMs has threatened to do this.  And take photographic proof that not all of my purple matched.  My response?  That would be awesome in our scrapbook!  Do it!  And let me tell you all the purple elements now...  LOL
