Assigned seating card display?

I have flat assigned seating cards.  They don't bend so you can't prop them up like a tent or anything. I'd rather not have them just laying on a table flat.  Any ideas for something a little more visibly pleasing?

Re: Assigned seating card display?

  • A lot of things I see on Pinterest or in wedding magazines have them displayed by hanging them with mini clothespins on twine, punching a hole in them and hanging them on hooks or decorative knobs. You'd have to prop up a board or an easel or something, which I don't know if that's an option for you, depending on where your table is set up.  They make place card holders you can prop them up on. Probably something that you could find to go with your wedding theme/colors too.

How about propping them up with something like this (You know I love me some river rocks! Hahaha!) These are tented, but flat ones might stay up on their own if they were surrounded by rocks. Maybe even create a base with some floral foam they could be pushed into.

Or on sticks in some way:

This would be easy to adapt:

Aaaaargh!  I love escort card displays, so now all I wanna do is look at pics of pretty ideas!

  • I love the last one where they have each table displayed in a picture frame. I may just do that for mine.

I like the frame too..but that would mean people would have to search through every frame until they found theirs..and since I'm inviting 228, it could take a while :)
  • There are so many ways to incorporate little cards into your table decor, or on a display.

What would help is to think about your theme and your venue.

For example, if your theme is gardens and floral is a big element, how about buying a ton of really small terra cotta pots and filling them with moss or dirt and growing cat grass seeds (they take about 6 days to germinate)....and then having each card 'planted' in the pot, either on a twig, a bamboo skewer painted green or gold, or just resting against the grass?

If your theme and venue are modern, cocktail nightclub Miami Beach, how about getting glowing drink stirrers, and having the escort cards as flags on these. Putting each stirrer into a wine or martini or highball glass.  Maybe (if it is not too late) color coding the text or card motif.    If you did this, I'd have the lights turned way down when people enter.

    Here are glow-in-the-dark drink stirrers:

  • We had our reception at a historical post office (no longer in service) and had mini mailboxes hold our seating cards (which were actually business cards I designed to be seating cards).  They were held up in the little flag on the mailbox.
