first dance timing

Hello,
My fiance and I are planning on performing a song together after the entrance into the reception. Should we do our first dance immediately after or wait until after dinner?
Thanks!

</div><div>We did our first dance immediately after entering.  From there we went to parent dances, toast and then dinner.  I think it works best because everyone is sitting down and no one is eating yet.  I've never seen it done after dinner.  After dinner I think the guests usually want to hit the dance floor and bar....not sit through first dances/parent dances.

I think that it may be regional, to some degree.  I'm in Canada, and I've actually never been to a wedding where it was done before dinner.  Most that I've been to have either been cocktail hour, salad, speeches, dinner, first dance, parent dance, general dance.
