Vineyard wedding prices!

I am searching for vineyards on Long Island for my wedding venue.  Is it normal that I am receiving quotes for $200-350 per person?  I am looking to have 220 people at the wedding.  That seems like a ridiculous amount of money!  They also charged a site fee between 7-15k!!  This doesnt seem right.  Do regular catering halls charge  that much per person??  I don't want to have my wedding in a traditional catering hall but I'm just curious of the price difference.

Please let me know if anyone has any input....I'm super new to this whole wedding process!

Hi and welcome! This question would probably be better on your local board, to the left. Cost of living (and weddings!) varies so much in different areas that we can't really answer accurately. I think that is super expensive, but most weddings I attend are less than 5k, total.


Oh, and the mod on the Budget Weddings board is from Jersey (her sn is HobokenBride), so she might be able to help you out if you post over there. She's super knowledgeable about the area. Just make sure to put XP in your post title, so people know it's on more than one board.

You are right! weddings in that area do cost that much...I'm from New Jersey and we are having a vineyard wedding we checked out locations in NJ, NY, and PA.  You will find 2 types of places..wineries that can have weddings and wineries the DO weddings.  The wineries that actually DO weddings charge an arm and leg.  the wineries that have weddings are locations that you need to bring everything in.  And because they are wineries first they will put a lot of restrictions on you..i.e. you can't start until a certain time
