Re: dress

  • How long is you dress & is there a train? My concern that if there is that you will either have to hold it up while snowboarding which then takes away your ability to use your arms for balance or that the dress & board will get tangled together causing you to fall & possibly get injured and/or ruin your dress.

[QUOTE]If I want to snowboard in my wedding dress, what are the chances it will be ruined?? I'm a good snowboarder so I hopefully won't be falling, but I'd like to wear the dress for my reception a few days later.  Does anyone have any insight on this matter?  Thanks.

  • I think there is a very good chance it will get ruined. I also think there is a good chance you will break your legs. If you want snow photos in your dress, great. You should do that. But a wedding dress is heavy and long and there is a good chance of you tripping or getting it wrapped around your board or legs. This idea is very risky.
  • I think if you want pics snowboarding in your actual dress and you want to make 100% sure your dress is not ruined for your wedding, you should wait until after the wedding to do these pics.

  • Is not doing a full hill an option. Like starting up part way up the hill? This way you won't have the speed going & less risk to you & the dress? Or places where you can look like you're moving but actually not?

[QUOTE]The dress does not have a train so I won't have to worry about that.  We are having the ceremony at a ski resort one day and a reception a few days later back in our home state.  So I would be boarding after the ceremony but before the reception.  I am not concerned about the dress "tripping" me up it is more of an issue of if snow will ruin the fabric.  I don't know much about differend faberics, the tag on the dress says polyester.

Train or not, combine the wind and the speed you are going during snowboarding, this is still very risky.  People snowboard and ski in pants for a reason.  Hopefully, the dress doesn't get wrapped around your legs, or blow up and end up messing with your hands, coordination or vision.

But, hey, if you want to risk breaking your body 2 days before your reception, knock yourself out.

If you are only concerned about the dress, I do think the moisture could damage or discolor the dress, depdending on the fabric.
