Cake vs cupcakes

Hello -
I'm reaching out to see if anyone knows if it's more or less expensive to do cupcakes vs cake? I'm thinking a small cake for us and cupcakes for everyone else? Thoughts? Oh and any suggestion for cake vendors?

I'm not sure what th cost of a cake per slice is, I did cupcakes for the guests there were $3.75 a cupcake and for the hubs and I we had a big creme brulee to crack instead of cutting the cake.  Our cupcakes came from a baker that our caterer contracts.

I think they can both run about the same price.  The advantage to cupcakes might be that there is sometimes a cutting fee at certain venues (for example if you're reception is at a restaurant) or if the venue you choose uses "in house" catering and charges for outside vendors.

Well it should really depends on the couple but lately I've noticed from the past weddings that I've attended to they've got both actually of a cake and a cup cake, so just really up to the couple what they want really. But anyways just visit http://www.bridesire.com for more wedding ideas too.

I stuck to my sister's advice  (she has 2 kids).  "You will have and make cupcakes for the rest of your life, this is the only time you will have one really nice wedding cake."

i heard they're about the same…. we're having a malasada "tree," malasadas in bulk being about a buck a piece.
