Well, it's been a whirlwind 10 days, but I'm back and I'm married!
The wedding ceremony & reception went off without a hitch - it felt so good to see all my hardwork and planning and crafting pay off and my MIL and Mom have both been sharing all the compliments they received. The only thing that didn't work out in our favor was not having ushers to help people know when to sit down and where to go after the ceremony. Instead of a typical receiving line, we stood at the cupcake table for dessert and greeted/thanked people for coming then. And apparently one of my aunts thought it took us too long between the ceremony and reception (we made a stop for pictures while the guests were having apps & drinks for social hour), and ended up leaving before the Grand March & meal. Embarrasing for me but oh, well. I think it's fairly common in our area that the wedding party is busy taking pictures and whatnot between the ceremony and reception.
The days leading up to the wedding were a little more stressful than I would have liked, due to our metro getting hit with about 8" of snow on Thursday & then rain/sleet for part of the day Friday. That put a big damper on my ability to run around for last minute errands and such. We had about 10 guests who couldn't make it from out of town because it was so icy here. Who would have thought in late April it would still be snowing?!?
Oh, and did I mention that my dad rear-ended me on our way to pick up his tux?? He is an adorably nervous driver in the "big city" since he lives in a town of about 2,200. He invested in a Garmin but must have been watching that and not noticed I stopped at a yellow light. Luckily everyone was ok, and there was not much damage to either of our cars.
The day after, my husband and I said good-bye to most everyone at breakfast and went home and had the most glorious nap ever. We finished up the day by shopping for the honeymoon - and got on a plane to Cabo the next morning.
Cabo was great! We relaxed a ton, snorkeled, went deep-sea fishing (caught a 92" marlin!!), fed a sea lion, did a glass-bottom boat ride, had amazing beach-stand tacos, enjoyed some drinks, and did a little shopping. It was an amazing trip and we really had good quality time and enjoyed each other's company!
Back to reality today at work, sigh - but so happy it's all over and now we can just be married! Here are some of the pics my photog sent as a teaser before we left:
