Downriver Winter Indoor Ceremony/Reception(Possibly by the water)-PLEASE HELP!

Hello all,
My fiance and I are looking to get married February 15th, 2014. We live downriver, and I would like to find a very affordable venue to hold the ceremony. We want somewhere indoor, waterfront if possible, or any other nice landscape in the background.  Our ceremony would hold no more than 100 people. The reception could be anywhere from 200-300 guests. We are looking to do a reception possibly at Rockwood Community Center (Does anybody have any suggestions/advice with this place? I have not called or anything yet, I just know you can have your own caterer/alcohol here.) Otherwise, I'd like to have the ceremony and reception at the same place! Budget is a huge thing for us, so the less expensive the better. Any information at all, PLEASE HELP! :)

  • Welcome to the board!

First off, (and no, I'm not trying to be rude by asking this) but why are there only 100 guests for the ceremony and 200-300 for the reception?  The reception is to thank your guests for coming.

Also, you said budget is huge so can you give us a number and what you'd like that to include?

  • Your not being rude at all! I just assumed 100 guests for the ceremony because of the fact that not all guests being invited to the wedding would be able to attend the ceremony. We work in retail and most friends may be able to join for the reception, but not for the ceremony itself. My budget is $10,000. I have no idea how to pull this off with everything that goes into wedding planning...

  • You should check out Silver Shores Waterfront in Wyandotte! I don't have any personal experience there, but I met the coordinator at a bridal show and she was very nice. The place looks great in the photos, they have an outdoor ceremony site and they were relatively cheap. Here's their website: http://www.silvershoreswaterfront.com/

Just a heads up though, $10,000 might be difficult for 300 people.. not impossible.. but difficult! I would keep that in mind. Good Luck! & Happy Planning :)
