New Jersey

North Jersey Venue - Help!

So today I went to go look at my VERY first potential wedding venues! I went to two today. I first went to The Venetian in Garfield, NJ and needless to say I fell in love!! There wasn't anything bad to say about the place except for when we were brought up into the office and they broke us the news -- we have to have AT LEAST 200 people in attendance before they will even consider us. She wouldn't even let me see what dates were available because she "didn't have to" because of my number of guets. Of course all of this was told to me this right at the very end, after I fell completely in love with it. :(

I'm a little discouraged but I'm not giving up! The Venetian isn't totally out of the question and I still have a few more to look at but I was wondering if anyone could help. As of now I'm planning to have about 150-180 guests (still working on the list), price range we are thinking is 150-200 pp before fees, but willing to work it out if we do find the right venue.

Could anyone reccomend some places in north NJ area? Especially anything similar to the Venetian?

Thanks so much!

  • Look at Il' Villaggio in Carlstadt, NJ. They would meet your numbers. The place is gorgeous and food is amazing! It's extremely elegant. Good luck! :
  • I looked at the Venetian but I didnt love their smaller ballroom or the fact that they do 2 weddings at a time. They have a sister venue, Seasons. Check out the Grove. I'm getting married there. It is within your price range and they do one wedding at a time. There is also Nanina's in the Park in Belleville which I loved. As a PP suggested, Il Vilaggio sp? is also in north NJ. I also LOVED Rockleigh CC. There are lots of other venues but they are either more modern Westmount CC or the old mansion feel Florentine Gardens and Crystal Plaza.

  • I loved Florentine Gardens, but the price was higher than I was willing to go. Should be in your price range. They book way, way ahead of time, so check them out sooner than later.

Our wedding was at Florentine Gardens - we had close to 270 attend but I believe for a Friday night the minimum is 175. Guests are still raving about the food, service & place in general.

    I also recommend:
    Rockleigh Country Club
    Westmount County Club
    Nanina's in the Park
Il Villaggio - this place is known for their food!
Season's - same owners of the Venetian but a little cheaper in price and the guest minimum is not as high

  • If you liked the Venetian, look at the Florentien Gardens.
  • I'm getting married at Seasons (Venetian sister venue) and our wedding is on the smaller side, about 130 people, so we booked the upstairs room. Let me know if you have any questions! :)
  • I got married at Season's and highly recommend it. We had the downstairs room for 165 guests. It was perfect.
  • Thank you all sooo much for your help!! Such great advice and greatly appreciated! :)

  • Check out Seasons, Venetian's sister venue.  I'm getting married there next June and can't wait!  I've been to several weddings there as well, it's GORGEOUS, amazing food, and more affordable than Venetian although still a bit pricey.

  • I also liked Il Villagio and Il Tulipano!
