tossing sprinkles

Hi everyone,We were thinking of tossing sprinkles at the end of the ceremony. our wedding is is at the end of april (so close can't believe it!). I saw on pinterest and i see a lot of negative reviews that the color will come if it is hot. i dont think it is going to be hot hot at the end of april. has anyone tried?

Re: tossing sprinkles

  • I don't know, but this doesn't sound like the best idea. I'm thinking sweat from palms will also make the color rub off, and then make hands sorta sticky.

I don't think it will ruin your dress or do any permanent damage or anything though, if that is what you are worried about.

But, I don't know if any other ideas are much better - bubbles? birdseed? rice? lavendar?

All have negatives, as well as positives. Go with what you like the most!

  • Check with your venue if it'd be allowed - it'd be messy cleanup, so they may not. Our church doesn't allow anything other than bubbles and biodegradable paper that washes away in the rain for tossing.

It's not just a weather concern.  I wouldn't do it if I was a guest because my hands sweat easily, and I know that happens to a lot of people.  Also if a sprinkle or two lands in someone's cleavage it could ruin dress and bra, especially if she doesn't know it's there and gets sweaty dancing all night.  I'd also be surprised if a venue allowed it because of the hassle of cleanup.

I agree with this.  I think it's a cute idea, but probably not the best idea.  How about flower petals, confetti  or bubbles? The petals and confetti are also a hassle to clean though...

  • Other than the running of colors, I would think guest's hands might become sticky.  I was at a wedding where we tossed wildflower seeds and they all came in paper cones that were probably wrapped up as a DIY project.  Maybe put them in something like that.
  • whats the significance of you throwing sprinkles? maybe we could come up with a better option for you?
  • No significance, my FI liked the idea, so i think i might go with colorful confetti instead. any good ifeas where to get?
  • How about ringing little bells. Might sound really pretty and joyful in the video if you are having one
  • Yeah colored confetti would be the same effect with less mess. did you try googling and doing an internet search to see if you could get a wholesale bag that you could make into smaller bags or if you got shiny thick paper and got a scrapbook punch you could make your own with different shapes and colors?
  • That looks really great...glad you came up with an option!
