Still shocked

Hi Ladies,
I don't post often, but I am shocked about an experience that my friend had with a bridal store in Wexford.  About a week ago, she tried on a dress and just fell in love with gown.  She paid a deposit then called to follow up on the order.  The owner told her that "her damn gown was ordered and not to call again."

How do they stay in business?  I wish she would have seen the F rating with the BBB before shopping.  The owner said that she could not cancel even though the gown was just ordered. Any advice?

Re: Still shocked

  • Since the deposit was made I would wait until the dress comes in and take the rest of her business elsewhere. Have her start researching where she can have alterations and the reast of her gowns needs taken care of. The day it comes in part ways and kindly tell the lady that she talked to how she feels, after dress is in hand of course.

  • I believe that I know what shop you are talking about. I have seen other terrible ratings and I'm always shocked because they have been wonderful to my bridesmaids and I, even when I call to check on things. I guess it depends on the day!

  • I have found along the way that once some wedding vendors know that they are getting your money, service is their last concern. It's sad and also very frustrating when you are spending a lot of money to plan a wedding. It's unlikely she will get her deposit back, but like PPs said, I would plan on picking it up as soon as it is in to take it somewhere else for alterations etc. Also keep in mind it takes around 6 months for a wedding dress to come in.

  • WOW! That is unbelievable!!!! I agree with above, it's highly unlikely that she will get her money back, so get the dress when it comes it. Check it thoroughly so you do not have to return and take your money/business else where.

So sorry this happened to your friend :(

  • Oh my.  I just did a little research and I think I bought my dress there less than a month ago.  I have to say that the manager was really helpful, patient and nice.  I had a good experience when I picked my dress. Hopefully that quality of service will follow through when my dress arrives this fall...

    So sorry to hear this.

  • To add to my post above, the managers name is Donna. Next time your friend calls the store, ask to speak to Donna.  She really took care of me.  Good luck.

  • Thanks Ladies!  It seems the owner Linda is the problem--go figure.  I read the reviews online and the consensus is the same.
