Wedding Invitations & Paper

Save-the-Dates

Just wondering, and my head is spinning from going through so many threads...how exactly is the proper way to address the STDs? I'm under the impression that they are less formal than the actual wedding invitations, but just how formal do they need to be in the addressing? Spell out streets, etc? Mr and Mrs with children's names below? Sending mine out this month, and we are at a loss because no one else in either of our families even used STDs.

We addressed ours fairly casually (Jane and John Smith) and did "The Smith Family" for people with children.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jones
    Timothy, Samuel, Jones (age order)
  • They should go to the couple on the first line, with children below.  While you generally don't put children's name on mail, if people are getting STDs so that they can plan travel, they need to know if their children will be invited.  If you don't want to put the children's names, you can enclose a not indicating that the children will be invited.

Generic addresses like "The Smith Family" are always inappropriate.  It shows that you are too lazy to address people by name, plus invites confusion.
  • our save the dates weren't very formal, kept those a little casual. John & Jane Smith, no mr & mrs. the invitations were very formal!
