Wedding Invitations & Paper

Save the date / Invitation ettiquette

When I send the save the dates out can I group the names together on the envelope for those that live in the same house with only 1 refrigerator? Examples: Mr. & Mrs. Smith & Mr. Doe OR Ms. Smith & Mr. Doe & Ms. Jones.

The invitations will be per person(s) invited but do I have to send save the dates and invitations to bridesmaids/groomsmen and my parents? Is it acceptable to hand them to them since they are closely associated with the wedding? or do they not need one at all? What about their spouses or girlfriends if they don't need an invite?

No. That's weird. They're not a social unit. 1 per couple or 1 per person if single.

It's the polite thing to give everyone an invitation. I wouldn't dream of not sending an invitation to my parents or bridal party. You could hand deliver if you want. Make sure to still put a stamp on the RSVP card, though.

  • 1) I think that with save-the-dates, you can send one per household, but with invitations, you do need to send one to each adult/social unit, even if there are multiple adults or social units in the same household.

    2) I'd send them to everyone, even parents and wedding party members. It's just gracious. Hand-delivering them is fine.
