Strange RSVP question?

I've been told that some of our older guests may attend the wedding and not the reception. I want to give the caterer an accurate count. Has anyone ever heard of having separate lines for attending the ceremony and reception on the response card?

Re: Strange RSVP question?

  • The RSVP is usually always meant for the reception because that's the place where numbers most likely matter the most. If you get an RSVP that says yes, I would count that as a yes for the reception.

Unfortunately, many brides have no-shows on the wedding day of people who said yes and don't end up coming. It's very hard to avoid. The worst thing would be to assume someone isn't coming to the reception and then you haven't planned for them.

Most people who don't attend the reception will send back the RSVP card either with "Ceremony only" written in, or with "Declines".

Try not to stress about it.
  • Thanks for the help. I would never dream of just going to the reception or ceremony, so this is a foreign concept to me! Smile
