European all-inclusive cruises

Hi, everyone!  Love reading all your honeymoon plans - makes me want to go on all those trips!

For our honeymoon, we really want to go to Europe.  We want to do part of it (a few days) touring a city (probably Dublin or London).  For the next part, we want to do an all-inclusive Mediterranean cruise, so we can see some more places but be more relaxed not having to plan our itinerary.  We have done some research on the all-inclusives and definitely want to go with that.  All-inclusive alcohol and food is a big selling point! Smile We are thinking about 7-days duration for the cruise.  Anyone have any experience with any of the cruise lines that are all-inclusive (drinks, food, possibly excursion/airfare/other things) and travel to ports in the Mediterranean (Italy, Greece, etc)?  Another things is that we don't want it to be an "old-fogey" cruise bvecause we're young and like to have FUN!!  We've looked at Silvesea, Regents Seven Seas, SeaDream Yacht Club.

Would LOVE some input or direction as to where our research should be done.  Planning our trip for early June 2014, our wedding is May 31, 2014.

Thanks for any advice! Congrats to everyone on your egagements/weddings! Smile

  • Wow thanks for all your awesome advice!  We are going to continue our research, using the tips you've all given.  We aren't really hung up on "seeing all the sights" on the cruise - we would be perfectly fine with going into one of cities that we stop at and having lunch and just strolling around a bit and seeing whatever we reasonably have time for.  The first half of our honeymoon we are dedicating to sightseeing really hardcore, then taking it easy on a cruise and seeing whatever we feel like.  Being an Italian girl, I'd be perfectly content gobbling up some pasta and red wine :)

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: European all-inclusive cruises : I agree, however I'd be sad to have spent thousands of dollars on a trip only to have seen one or two major attractions in a city.  Rome for example, I loved seeing the Vatican, Sistene Chapel, St Peters Basilica, Colosseum, Pantheon, Roman Baths, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc.  I personally could not imagine coming back from a trip that included Rome and not seeing pretty much all of the above.  I know I can't see everything, no matter how long my stay, but I like to have at least enough time to see the major highlights.  I think most of that stems from our mindset that we aren't going back to any place for a repeat visit for a very long time.....there's too many places in the world to see!  :D  I can see how it might not bother people if they missed things, especially if they plan on going back sometime.

yes that may be true but if that's all you saw (not the forum which is right next door to the coli, same with palatine hill) or the awesome santa maria sopra minerva church next to the pantheon you walked right by,.....that's my point.
its all how you want to travel. i wasn't sad that on my first visit to rome i didn't see a ton and i was there for days before our cruise. but hey-it's not going anywhere and i can always go back (and have). i bet you didn't stay for very long in each of those places or get to admire the art as closely as you would've liked to int he vatican museum---because oyu had to rush off to 'see' other things.  step back and relax and take time to appreciate a few things rather than rush just to say you saw them.  a $ spent really spending time on something is better than a $ just spent rushing by to say you've seen it. my opinion anyway.
