Baby shower pre invite..?

I got this as a Facebook message...   "Letting Everyone Know The Baby Shower Is Schedule For Roughly Around The Weekend Of June 22nd. Im Not Sure Of A Time Yet Or Location But Im Thinking It Will Be Located Somewhere In Auburn. All Questions Will Be Answered Once You Receive Your Invite. Also If Youre Wondering What Types Of Things I Need I'll List A Few Things For You. We Have Majority Of The Basics But You Cant Go Wrong With The Following :1. Shoes
2. Diapers
3. Wipes
4. Bath Stuff
5. Other Care Needs
6. Binkies
7. Baby Monitors ( I Do Not Have One Of These Already )
You May Also Buy Clothes & Toys ( Such As Stuffed Animals, Things That Make Noise Etc... ) But Nothing Huge As Far As Toys Go Please, As We Already Have Limited Space As It Is. So Think Small & Easily Storable & Nothing With Small Parts. ( Gift Cards For Places Like Toys R Us/ Babies R Us / Or Even Build A Bear ) Would Be Something You Could Get =] Dont Be Afraid To Think Outside The Box Or Go A Unique Route. ( If You Cant Get Anything Dont Stress! You Simply Showing Up Means The World To Me & Im Glad To Spend The Time With You ^.^ )As Far As Food Goes...Im Not Entirely Sure...But I Think We're Going Pot Luck Style...So Feel Free To Bring Something To Contribute =] ( Again If You Cant Bring Anything Dont Stress!!! I Love You Just The Same! )I Look Forward to Seeing You All There! If You Cant Show Up Dont Feel Bad! My Feelings Wont Be Hurt, I Understand Its Hard To Get Away From Work, Come From A Long Distance, Or Even Have The Money To Get There, The World Is A Tough Place & Things Happen! But I Hope You Can Make It Anyways Because Id Love To See You & Most Of You Havent Had The Chance To Meet My Wonderful Fiancee Yet & Id Love For You To Do So!"
Can I get a forehead slap over here?

That's what I got out of it.  Hosting your own shower, ftw!

Holy crap, I wouldn't be able to write that much "gimme gimme gimme gimme"  without having a stroke out of embarrassment.

Then if I lived, I'd have another from hosting my own shower.

  • I would never EXPECT anyone to bring me a gift so I would have a very hard time asking for anything specifically. But if you want to register at every store in town or ask for "gift cards only" or whatever else it is, I could care less.  But this is outrageous!

I especially love that she included "no small parts" for her less intellegent guests who have never been near a baby before.

  • Holy macaroni.  Is she hosting her own shower?  Please tell me that you aren't going to this, but that you have a mole who can tell you how it all shakes out.

  • My focus is on the fact that every word has a capital letter to start with. Did she type the email that way?

  • I thought the FB message I got awhile ago from the mom to be that her DH, not sure if he was the baby daddy before birth, was throwing her a baby shower for baby 4. She had a shower for each child and 24 are 2 years apart.

  • Holy Moley!! It irks me to no end when ppl invite others to a baby shower (or a wedding) on FACEBOOK. If you invite everyone you know by the invite then everyone sees how many ppl you invited, why do you need to invite 400 ppl to your party, including the ppl in other countries that you prob never met in person. Biggest peeve ever!!! Ill admit I did have a shower for all 3 of my sons (4.5 yrs between first and last). but its bc babies are to be celebrated, nothing about gifts. For my last everyone knew we had everything (last 2 are 8 days shy of 2 yrs apart). But they also knew diapers were appreciated. CRAZY MAMA ON A ROLL THERE!!!
  • Sorry wanted to add... I'm assuming you are going, taking your best baked dish, your own chair to sit on, and a very pricey gift.... Oh and you have June 22nd, the weekend before and the weekend after reserved for the party right just to make sure you're avail?? Lol
  • I'm with smallfrie...was every word capitalised ON PURPOSE? Because that's my first OMGWTF. Followed, in rapid succession, by the mother hosting her own shower, the audacity of asking for gifts in what essentially the invites, the audacity of potlucking a baby shower you're hosting and just....everything else in that email. OK, I need to get off the boards, go do my makeup and take the hot rollers out of my hair and get dressed for engagement photos, round two. Before anyone asks: we have several friends who are professional photogs. Two of them offered us 'couples photos' as an engagement gift. I just wanted everyone to know I'm not narcissistic and didn't INTENTIONALLY schedule two epic sessions. :D

Heehee I know. I'm a shoe hoar, so my kid will have so many pairs of useless footwear that it will be certifiable.

  • This is the mother-to-be planning her own shower, no I am not going and thanks for agreeing with me! When I read this I was wondering if I was being judgmental but I had to be sure so I said "I wonder what the knotties think?"

I'm pretty sure she wrote it via cell phone, there might be a setting for it? Not sure.

  • So the mom to be is providing a building to have the shower in?  At least there's going to be a roof over your heads...or is she planning on house crashing and going all "*SURPRISSSSSE!* BABY SHOWER AT YOUR HOUSE TODAY!" on an unsuspecting guest as their finishing their potluck dish?

I think they mean as a newborn/a couple months old.  Babies don't typically walk for several months.
