Back story... i work for a small yet fast growing medical practice. Only 1 of 2 in this specialty within a 75 mile radius. If you do well, you are compensated well. My Christmas bonus last year was a check equal to 75% of my monthly wages. When my kids bus was hit and tipped over, my boss offered to come to my home to check them out. It's like a family away from home. I've been there 15 months (I was out of school 2 weeks) and have gotten a decent amt of raises. If you prove yourself you advance to other departments which then increase your wages. This I've known from day 1. I LOVE the position I'm in, its what I went to school for but I'd love the change to progress too ya know?
Anyhow...
Now im trying to not lose my mind, 2 weeks ago my boss told me he's considering me and 1 other girl for a nice promotion and he'd let me know. I've heard others talking that she's starting training soon yet the other 2 doctors are asking me when I start training. Training is extensive, Id be running the testing department, basically I perform a special test on patients, Input their info in the comp and I'm done. No more non stop phone calls, paper trails.... No more LATE HOURS (working 50-60 hrs a wk is not abnormal for me). It would be 3 days a week, 3 different offices, the other 2 days I help others in the office, work part days or even take time off as he put it "to spend time with your kids bc I know that's important to you too".
Not really in a position to ask the status, just rolling with it and giving every day my all. That in itself feels like a double edged sword... Yesterday my boss asked me 1 question on if I did something with a patient and that prompted me to give the domino effect of "I did ___ which lead to ___ and ___, its in the computer" he then says "how'd you get so good, maybe ill keep you where you are" with a cheesy grin.... I smiled, felt confident and walked away thinking DANG IT!!!
Should hopefully know in a week or 2 but going crazy none the less, if the other girl gets it great, if not I get it, she takes my position and life goes on. She was orig in my dept and got promoted but honestly SUCKS at her new position hence why she's leaving it one way or another.
