Stuck between a Rock and a Hard Place!!!

Coordinator and I went to go talk with the owner of the hall and we were informed that we only have the hall for 5 hours. My ceremony starts at 4 which means that the reception will start about 5. We are going off site for pictures and is due to return around 6- 6:15, dinner served at 6:30 to 7:30 then the dance's , garter and bouquet toss. By the time all that's done it will be about 9:00 and we got to be out by 10:00. Im pissed! We wont have any time to party because we will be greeting guest all night.

Do you think $300 for a few extra hours is worth it?

  • My reception is going to start around 5 530 and will be ending 10p. Because I know most of my guest won't be there past 9 I'm ok with not having a lot of party time. I don't want to be at the venue all night trying to gather up everything...and because I know how my guest are..I know its not worth it for me to spend extra. With that being said..its really what you want and what's in your budget. If you know the party will still be rocking til 12 1 then I say go for it !

Wasn't it in your original contract how long you would have the hall for? My reception was actually only 5 hours as well. Ceremony at 5pm, Cocktail hour 5:30pm to 6:30pm and reception from 6:30 to 11pm. Your day is so long that you might be greatful to be done at 10pm. I felt like my guests still had ample time to party. You just have to ensure that whoever is in charge of your activities for the reception that they are on top of things and get everything done on time. My venue and DJ did a really good job at that.

  • We only have our venue for 6 hours, but I'm okay with that. If you start your ceremony on time and keep it short and sweet, then I don't think you will have any issues. Since you have to go off site to take pictures, maybe you should consider doing a first look. This way, you can get a few of the group pictures out of the way AND you'll have some added fun shots of the first look to have in you album. Just a thought....

  • I feel like if you think your going to have a good party going on then you should go ahead and do it but i knw most of the time the bride and groom are soo tired greeting everyone and trying to make sure everything is done and getting done and doing the little things for the wedding (cake cutting, garter toss, flower toss) sometimes you can fit it all in the alloted time... i knw im no help LOL
