Catholic ceremony to reception

My fiancee and I are looking to have a Catholic ceremony, and the issue we are running into is that we can only have 2:00pm ceremonies, but we don't want to have our reception in the middle of the afternoon. Does anyone have any advice on what to do in this situation? We don't want to make our guests wait around for a few hours between, or risk people not coming to the ceremony at all.

Any help or advice is helpful!

Are you getting married in the Lansing area or Metro Detroit area?

The reason I ask is because I know that in the Archdiocese of Detroit, there are several chapels you can get married at which are NOT in actual active church parishes.  Those locations allow you to have a later Catholic wedding mass.   Most are located on school / university campus.

Most churches have late afternoon / early evening mass on Saturday.  So your wedding has to be earlier in the day so you don't overlap with regular mass.

My wedding ceremony was at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Bloomfield Hills. Back then, there were 2 ceremony times available - 3pm and 6pm.

We opted for a Friday for that exact reason-- not ideal but I'd rather that over a big gap.
