OOT Bags

Ok, OOT bags... what should go in them? This is what I have so far...

bottles of water
visit PGH brochure (or something similar)
Clark Bar

I thought Pittsburgh Popcorn, but looking on their Web site it doesn't look like they have individual bags.

What else?!

I think that stuff sounds good, and maybe some other snack foods...

Pgh Popcorn company does wedding favors, so they do sell individual bags I think... I think they are just tricky to find.

I always love getting some kind of snacky food - even if it doesn't have anythng to do with the place I'm at (like random crackers or something) and DEF bottle of water.

I was going to suggest a heinz pickle pin... but i just did a quick google search and can't find a place to get them online. Map would be good... maybe a list of your favorite places to go in the area?

I included a welcome letter in mine to thank guests for coming. I also included a list of restaurants, shops, and important things like pharmacies.

I also made a booklet of "Pittsburghese" for mine. We didnt have many OOT guests, but the ones that were said they definitely heard some of the terms used at their dinner table lol.

I also put TONS of snacks (went to Sams and got bottled water, Mike n Ikes, chips, cookies, etc), a pickle pin, gum, cans of pop.

The pickle pins are such a cute idea! You can find a lot of stuff like that in the strip. I recently picked up a bunch of Steeler pins for the gals I work with down there.

@JamieK--I am one of the "Pittsburghese" talking folk and my OOT friends have always requested I write these things down!

    We're going to do:

    mini Heinz ketchup/mustard bottles
bag of pretzels (just buying in bulk from Sam's or something)
    Clark bar
Eat n Park cookie (black and gold ones)
    visit Pittsburgh guide
    note of welcome
directions from the hotel to the ceremony/reception

and I was also thinking of checking out Pgh Popcorn Co. but not sure how expensive it is!

J - my mom actually just called the Visit Pittsburgh place and they are supplying us with free Pittsburgh brochures (the PLAY publication) - they said they are free unless we need them shipped, but my mom is going to pick them up for us.... Here is their info - def give them a call!

My sister had her wedding in December.  I made this guide to Pittsburgh (clicky) for her website and we printed it out to make into a guide for the bags.  I modified it for myself and put it on my website.  I am still adding to it, but her guests really liked knowing about Pgh from her (well my) perspective.  I added their neighborhood, their old stomping grounds (he went to Chatham for grad school and she went to Pitt for grad school) etc.

We also did small bottles of Heinz condiments and Pgh popcorn.  You could get coffee grounds from Fortunes or Nicholas and put them in smaller brown paper bags.  I would love to have good, local coffee.  Honestly, though I would love bulk candyprobably more than anything, but I have the biggest sweet tooth.

My mom walked through the Strip District and bought various items for our OOT baskets. Biscotti, Pgh Popcorn, Pgh coffee, chocolates from Mon Ami, and whatever else she could find. I made a brochure with an itinerary of events for our OOT guests (which also invited them back to our house the day after the wedding). In the brochure I included a list of our favorite restaurants and then named a few things to do around town (museums, casino, etc).

I actually bought the pickle pins off of another knottie. An entire bag for $5 Smile

I took most of my Pittsburghese lingo from the website: www. pittsburghese.com.
