Clutch pros and cons

I'm trying to decide whether or not I should get a clutch for my wedding. On the one hand, it would be useful for carrying lipstick, hotel room key, etc., but I'm not sure I want to carry it around for the whole evening. Will you/did you have a clutch? Are there pros or cons that I'm missing?

I plan on just having my tote which will include items from my purse, touchup hair/makeup stuff and the rest of the emergency kit.  I'll throw it in the room at the church and in the locked room at my reception venue... I can't imagine carrying something around all night.
  • I plan on using a clutch, but my mom is disabled and as such mainly will be seated, and has offered to hold it.  I figured when she used the ladies' room I would of course grab it or she'd pass it to my aunt and uncle.  I wanted to get the clutch so I would be able to have a few items right with me for easy access, and yet keep things elegant and simple - not too much space, so I'm limited on what I use/have.  I figure: phone, lipstick, powder, mints, concealer, blotting paper, wet nap, safety pin, hair pins.

I'm also getting my mom a clutch to match her dress *(but it's a surprise - shhhh)
  • My mom held my purse for me. I wouldn't have had anywhere secure to put it.

  • I didn't bring anything with me.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I didn't have a clutch.  I had a bag of stuff in my bridal suite at my venue.  I never used it any of it.

I think a clutch is more trouble then it is worth.  You will constantly be wondering where you put it all night long.  Just keep a bag of any essentials either under your dinner table or in another room that is available to use by the venue.

  • My grandma got me a white satin money bag from Walmart for $8.  It had a wrist strap so I used it as a purse.

  • I had a clutch. It was beautiful, and it had my grandmother's brooch as the closure on it. I put my lipstick, cell phone, and house key in it. I never used it and almost left the reception without it. It's a very cute idea, but I'd skip it.
