All Inclusive Packages

We have been trying to weigh the options in booking a venue where everything is included and breaking it down to individual costs. For those of you utilizing all inclusive venues and are already booked, what did you find to be more cost effective? And what seems to be the average cost per person on something like that? I've gotten 2 quotes so far and I really like one of them but I'm worried we might be over paying at $85/person.

What exactly do you mean by everything?  You mean the cake, all the linens ie chair covers, glasses, flatware, china, etc?

My venue requires you to use their caterer, provides the beer/soft drinks/juice, I can bring my own liquour, all table linens, no chair covers, no centerpieces, no cake.  WIth the venue rental fee and all the food costs, I am paying about $76 pp which I think is reasonable for a riverfront venue.

    It includes:
     - room rental fee
     - linens and napkins to match the wedding colors
     - chair covers
     - a cocktail hour before the reception w/ hors d'oeuvres
     - buffet style meal
     - cake
     - 4 hours open bar
     - bridal suite the night of
     - center pieces & decorated head table

It really does cover a lot but the overall cost adds up very quickly and the majority of our guests are family so its hard to cut the guest list.

We'll be paying about $50 pp for a family style meal. However, I won't be having chair covers. With chair covers and sashes, we'd be at about $54 pp.

My venue is not all inclusive.

ETA: I took my budget for the things you listed and added it up and divided by the number of guests. I think $85 pp is a lot for a buffet.

Crowne Plaza definitely has a nice wedding package.  If I had things to do over again, I probably would have went with this venue.  Buuuut... hindsight is 20/20.

    My venue's package includes:

-- 5 hours in the room
-- passed hot and stationary cold hors d'oeuvres
-- Choice of buffet or sit down
    -- Linens (no chair covers)
-- 4 hours open bar (upgraded to top shelf)
-- cake (I just learned I will have to pay for fillings and some other icing upgrades)
-- all taxes and gratuity, not including the new, lovely Allegheny County liquor tax.

... this is $53pp and is one of the more inexpensive venues in the area.

I went with an all inclusive (and was willing to pay a little more than I would have if it was all separate) because it made things easier for me-- that was worth it, in my opinion.  I had no interest in trying to figure out all the details and finding a ton of different vendors on my own.  Ours included:

    Ceremony
Open bar (we upgraded to top shelf)
Cocktail hour (4 appetizers, cheese & crackers, fruit)
Sit down meal (soup, salad, meal)
    Wedding cake
Linens, chair covers, some basics for center pieces
    Wedding coordinator
    Clean up
Suite for me & H, and one for each set of parents

    My venue includes:

    Cocktail hour w/ passed apps
    Alcohol
    Cake
    Plated Dinner (appetizer, salad, entree)
    Linens
    coordinator
    cleanup
    ceremony (if you want)

It's around $89/person and is a pretty expensive venue compared to some I looked at.  I'd say $85/pp for a buffet is too much.

I also recommend The Crown Plaza Pittsburgh South. This is where I am having my reception (we actually just signed the contract Saturday). You get an absolutely amazing deal, and they are very flexible. My FMIL is vegetarian, the only option on the menu for veg's is a mushroom meal and she doesn't like mushrooms. I spoke with Kelli about this she said it will not be a problem at all the chef's are very flexible. There is no age limit on the kids menu so that means if you have picky eaters in your family (I have a picky grandmother) they can eat come chicken fingers and frys (or anything else on the kids menu). If you want to close your bar for an hour during dinner you can tack that extra hour onto the end of your reception so you have a 6 hour reception. Kelli the coordinator is fantastic to work with and I have only had 2 meetings with her.  If you have any questions please feel free to PM me.

Our reception was on the Gateway Clipper, I loved the all-inclusive for 2 reasons: first, I was planning from Phoenix and didn't have the opportunity to meet with 100 different vendors and second, some stuff I just didn't care much about (ie: linens).

I think ours was about $75/person plus there were some other charges for the boat itself (ie: fuel surcharge) and we also added some stuff on and did some upgrades (the reception was important to us and was our splurge).

Thanks, ladies. I'll have to look around a bit more. All of this certainly gives me something to better gauge it all! Smile

@Cubbybubba, I'm having my reception at The Fez. The package is all inclusive and comes to around $53pp including tax and service charge. They have three rooms to choose from and the one we picked was just remodeled. The other two are a bit outdated looking though.
  • I am having my wedding at the Pittsburgh Zoo.  They have an all inclusive option and individual options.  We choose the all inclusive option.  All I can say is that our wedding is in August, just 5 short weeks away, and I honestly feel NO STRESS.  I can only attribute that to the fact that the zoo is more or less doing everything for us.  It's worth it!
