Food for Thought

I need some help my fellow Knotties!  The wedding ceremony and reception is Halloween 2014 at and we're trying to decide on what food to have for our buffet.  Our wedding is completely non-traditional from the dress to the vows to the choice of dinner music so I feel why should the food be any different!

I'm not a fan of "wedding food" (no potato balls for this girl!) but I have no clue on what to serve.  We don't have a favorite food because we love to mix it up.  We did consider a food truck but then we have to rent more items so choosing a cater seems to be the more logical route and the most recent idea was Itailian.

So what screams memorable fall yummies for a Hallowedding to you?

  • First off, I would like to say that all these ideas are making me hungry...

Second, I totally second (or third) the mac and cheese idea, but maybe gourmet it up a bit by adding things like butternut squash or roasted veggies to it. When I think of fall, I always think comfort food - and if you add in seasonal veggies I don't think you can go wrong! Plus, that makes the food a little more fun and different, so that no one's thinking "Eh, I could have made this at home."

[QUOTE]I worked a Thanksgiving wedding once (the wedding was in July, but the food was Thanksgiving themed). I thought it was bizarre at first ... but holy cow, it was delious and popular. They did turkeys with all the trimmings. In the fall I'm always craving comfort food like that - stick to your ribs stews, chicken and dumplings, mac and cheese. I definitely second the pork - maybe your caterer can do something like this ( http://www.simplysogood.com/2012/10/vanilla-cider-pork-with-pears.html) but with apples?
