Opinion on Friday wedding time...

Our wedding is going to be a Friday evening wedding and we are going back and forth about when we want to start things and if we should add an hour...  The ceremony and reception will be taking place at the same place so there will not be any travel time in between the ceremony and reception.  We are only allowed to have the bar open for a max of 4 1/2 hours at our venue, which means that if we extend the reception for an hour, we will have to close the bar for an hour (presumably during dinner time)  Here are our main possibilities:

(1)  Ceremony begins at 4:30, reception starts at 5:00, ends at 10:00 - bar does not close.

(2)  Ceremony begins at 5:30, reception starts at 6:00, ends at 11:00 - bar does not close.

(3)  Ceremony begins at 4:30, reception starts at 5:00, ends at 11:00 - bar closes for an hour during dinner.

I wouldn't start a Friday wedding at 4:30.  To be perfectly honest, I would't start one until 6, but if I had to pick one of the options, I would pick 5:30.

I agree with option number 2 - Give your guests as much time as possible to get there since it is a workday. Ten seems early to wrap up as well. I like the idea of a Friday wedding, but definitely the later start is better.

Agree w/ MRads - no earlier than 6.  People need time to finish work, drive home, change and get ready, and get to your wedding.

I thought opinions would be more split on this, but it seems that everyone is in favor of the later start time.  Maybe we will talk about a 6:00 start time too...
