Knot Jackie

A bunch of us replied to your post about the board changes on our month board. It would've been super if you actually looked at what we had to say before you switch us over to that god effing awful new layout. Thanks for all the consideration and support *insert eyeroll*

I think we'll all just stick to our private FB group now. Thanks.

Ugh. The white is so unpleasant. And I hope the sig thing gets fixed. For me, it's an old pic and makes me travel back in time. According to my ticker that shows up on it, I am 10 months and 2 weeks away from my first anniversary. And I only joined and created that ticker 4 months before my anniversary.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I just mainly don't understand why all website gods feel the need to constantly "improve" the layouts.  Sure, TK boards had some frustrations, but "fixing" them has made some things worse, and it's not as pretty.  It's not just TK either.  Facebook, Yahoo, YouTube-they're always changing it to try and keep up and make everything look streamlined.  I've hated all the changes they've made in the last few years, especially YouTube.  Why mess up a good thing?
  • Does anyone else get the feeling that the cone of silence has now been dropped, and we are no longer allowed to speak to Knot Gods?

  • I just spent some time attempting to get used to this.  It's a pain, but I'll live.

There's one thing I don't like though.  The posts in the old format were always listed in chronological order based on when the OP was made.  Now, it goes in order based on when the most recent post was.  I don't like this.  It's going to be much harder to find a specific post.  At least for me, when I've checked up on posts, my brain somehow remembers where to look based on other threads around it.  Maybe this is just my issue, but it's going to bug the heck out of me.

Posted by wittykitty14[/QUOTE] I actually prefer that. I'd rather know which topics have been most recently active. Ideally they'd give you a choice between the two.

You can change the sort order with a drop down on the right.

In the new boards, you can select your sort preference - either by Original Post Date or Most Recent Activity

Again, this could just be the result of my own brain function.  I'd like to think I'm not the only one out there who's like that.  And yes, it'd be awesome if we could pick.  But if we can't, I can see the positives to having it this way.  It will give new life to some older threads if someone adds to them, which could be kinda cool.  Sometimes they'll get buried pretty quickly.  On the flipside, I also anticipate new OPs getting buried if they don't have a "hot" discussion going like PPDs and kicking someone out of their party.  It sounds like there's a way to keep track of which posts you have and haven't read yet, so that would help this situation.  I dunno.  It would be awesome to have a choice between them though.
  • Hey guys- I am here! You can imagine things have been a little crazy on our end.

As the boards change over, of course there are going to be some issues and glitches. Every single thing I see that you point out- I may not respond to, but I am sending the threads to our tech team - i PROMISE.
As of May 16 the boards will be completely updated- so really, only another week of up and downs and edited things based on feedback. It'll be worth it.

I am going to do my best to respond to everything I missed yesterday - just give me some time, there is a lot.

    Thanks for you patience,
    Jackie

Oh really?  I guess I missed it.  I'm going to go check it out right now!

ETA:  Yep, I'm a derp.  There it was, right at the bottom.  Thanks for pointing it out!  This makes me happy!

I noticed something that I'm not sure has been mentioned yet-

In addition to the location, the number of posts a user has seems to be missing.  I enjoy seeing that.  Plus, it's helpful to see if a poster is brand new or not.

ETA: You can still click on the users name and see it that way, but it's just an extra step that wasn't there before.  It's not really a big deal, I suppose.  My only real issues with the new layout are the navigation and the whiteness.  Other than that, it's really not so bad.

Yes - we noticed. It is with the team!
