Cake prices?

Hi, girls-

My wedding is next month and I'm just now looking at cakes. (So low on my priority list.)

From your experiences, what starting points per slice are you seeing? I know there are lots of variables (design, icings, techniques, etc)--just looking for what a typical starting point might be.

TIA!

I think $2.50-3/slice is whre some of the recommended vendors start for a buttercream cake.

I also waited until about a month for cakes. I tried Prantls, Paddycake, and Oakmont Bakery. Prantls was about $400 for a 100 people, Oakmont was $275 and paddy cake was about $250 for 90 people. Pranks was my #1 choice, but out of my budget. I LOVED Paddycake's icing, so we went with them. I'm excited to try it this weekend!

The only item I will not compromise on...my bouquet of all purple tulips wrapped in a swatch from my Mom's wedding dress.

I have been a little surprised with cake prices.  I went into it thinking that a lot of them would start off around $2 per slice but my first choice was $4 per slice (with fondant) for 200+ which I was shocked.  I tried another local vendor who was ridiculously overpriced at $7 per slice.

I'm going with the $4 per slice but that's just cause I'm so over the cake choosing process.  :)

I live a block from Paddy Cakes and I love that place! I was thinking of getting my cookies/sweets from there since my cake is included in my wedding venue package.

I am sure your cake is gonna be so tasty!

My venue quoted me a starting price of $4 per slice.. which was over my budget. However, my venue also charges a cake cutting fee if I dont go with them.. i too put cake at the bottom of my list.. but ended up going over budget because of the cake cutting fee.

I went with Cakes by Tammy who for my tiered cake is $2.75 per slice (will serve 100).. and then for my back up cake its $1.75 per slice (will serve another 100)...
