Invitation freak-out

So I'm having a minor (or maybe major) freak-out about my invitations.  My friend (and BM) is designing them and having her BIL print them.  We talked about it months ago, and three weeks ago and I asked if she could have everything ready by June 11 so I would have a few weeks to put them together and mail them on my target date of June 25.

Obviously that deadline has come and gone.  She finally sent me some samples last Tuesday, and I picked the one I liked best.  Then she said she had to make the inserts using the same design.  I haven't seen those samples yet, and I know she said the printer has a 2-day turnaround, so it's cutting it really close.  After I get everything, I have to glue the invitations to the pocketfolds, put in all the inserts, put them all in envelopes, take them to the post office to weigh to see what stamp to use, etc.  I'm just afraid I'll run out of time!  My target date is 9 weeks before my wedding, so I know I have a little leeway since etiquette states 6-8 weeks, but I have so many OOT guests and I'm dying to have a headcount, so I want to get them out ASAP.

Anyway, I think I just needed to vent :)  And maybe ask for some advice on what to do and if I should contact her.  We went out on Saturday and I mentioned I needed everything, so she knows I'm stressing and I don't want to nag.  She is a very good friend and I know she is busy with work (not to mention she's pregnant) and I don't want to cause any problems.

Thanks for listening to my rant!

What a nice friend you have!!  I think you are going to be fine! I understand your desire to send out your OOT invites early, I am in the same boat.  I would just try to set aside as much time as possible to glue and stuff.  Perhaps recruit some friends to help make it go faster.

I'm sure your friend will get it together for you and everything will work out!  ((hugs)) GL!

Thanks for the reassuring words! You're right, she is a great friend for doing this, and that's why I feel bad even worrying about it.  I will just try not to think about it anymore and then hopefully it will all work out :)

This is a tough situation since it's your friend who is doing the designing.  Did she give you any indication of when everything would be finished and in your hands?  If not, I think it's more than fine for you to ask her for a final completion date.

I do think you're still good on time but I understand your stress, wanting to get everything out!  Even if you go a week or two beyond your target date, you'll still be in good shape and I guarantee your guests won't notice at all.

Ahh I'm sorry that's happening!  It's very nice your friend is doing all this for you though.  I'd give it another week or so, and if you don't have them then, give her a reminder and tell her when you want to have them out by.  Also, if they go out a week or so later, it won't be any big deal.  Try not to stress-easier said then done!

Aw, very sweet of your friend...but I understand your stress too!

Can you put it on someone else?  Like email her: "Hi, friend.  My mom, MIL etc have all been asking when we are going to assemble the invites.  I need to know when I'll have them in hand so we can schedule a time to sit down and assemble and address them.  It looks like everyone is available next Saturday - can you make sure I get them by then?"

Thanks, I feel better already :) It is good to know I have a week or two buffer and that you all think it's all right if they go out a bit late.  This is literally the first thing has stressed me about wedding planning, and I don't like being stressed!

K - That is a great idea!  I was going to schedule a get-together with my BMs to assemble, so if I don't hear from her by the weekend, I'll ask for a solid date so I can schedule that.

I'd do this. Good luck! I think you'll be fine as long as you have help assembling everything.
