Torn between 2 dresses - HELP

Wedding is in 41 days so I can only pick dresses that I can walk away with. I went out this weekend to try on dresses and I'm torn between 2

Wedding is in the city hall with the reception in a museum. the ceremony is in the city hall in the old circular debating chamber (all old dark wood and deep red leather) and the reception is in the main grand hall of a museum (marble)
The wedding isn't 'formal' but the victorian buildings are impressive and give a formal look

1st one

2nd

Re: Torn between 2 dresses - HELP

  • Personally I like the first one best--I think it more elegant, sleek and sophisticated than the second dress. The second dress reminds me of something you'd wear to a beach wedding (so if you're having a beach wedding, maybe the second one is a good choice)--but overall I would say the first dress has a bit more style and class. I would go with #1!

I am an end of June bride as well. Congrats!

I like the first better in those pics... No pics of YOU in them though? That could make a difference!

What is the look you are going for? What is the venue?

To me ( at least on my computer) they look like that:
First dress is more sophisticated and a little bit retro ( in " The great Gatsby"  kind of way)

Second one is more like "Cinderella is having a party " ,  or even with a little bit "flowerchild" feel into it.

I like them both, but to me they convey very different personalities.

Another vote for #1, it's beautiful!  #2 is a little too plain for your venue.

  • My vote is for # 1 as well.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I'm voting for number 1 as well.  I think it would be perfect for the venue your describing.

  • #1 is beautiful, and it will definitely fit the look/feel of your wedding venue.
  • I vote for #1 as well. Given the description you gave of the locations, it seems it would be perfect! Congrats!
    Praying for a miracle!
  • Definitely 1!  It has such a classic, timeless and sophisticated feel, which it sounds like your wedding will as well. Your plans sound wonderful, and it is going to be so lovely!
  • Dress #1!

Dress #1! It is beautiful and I think it would really fit in with your theme.

  • I prefer the first dress

  • Nothing new to add, but I love, love dress #1. I may be biased because that's the sort of dress I envisioned for myself (even though I ended up getting something completely different, go figure...). I agree it would match your venue very well and I like that it's not something you see as much.

  • Thanks ladies
I went back and bought number 1 :)
