Snarky Brides

This brides biggest fear....

29 days to go.... MOH and I went to do my final try on and pick up my dress tonight. Bottom skirt was a bit snug, hmm no biggy. Corset is a bit tight, was it like that before... Then MOH says "umm chicky the diet starts NOW you got me?" Bc THE DRESS BARELY ZIPS,

I had the urge to sneeze while wearing it and seriously couldn't.

I'm petite as is.I've been blessed to never really watch my weight, I want it, I eat it, in moderation of coarse.

they only altered my length of the dress, never took it in bc it was a little loose. I was shocked tonight' thankfully MOH had me laughing about it and all the foods that are now out of my diet. I told her I'm going to have to eat so healthy for a month. My honeymoon will be awesome bc I can say screw it and pig out. :-)

Just so shocked it was that tight. The more MOH and I talked the more it made sense. Job stress, kid stress (my 6 yr old is gonna be the death of me these days). Final weeks before the wedding, pushing through health issues. Its no wonder it doesn't fit right.

Needless to say they kept my dress, I go back in 2 weeks for another fitting and to see if we need any alterations. In the mean time, strict no sugar, no caffeine (that might kill me), low carb, high protein diet..... This ought to be interesting.

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this so close to your wedding day! My only other suggestion would be to drink water like its going out of style!! And you could always do the whole garbage bag sweat it out like wrestlers do to make weight. Good luck!

  • Also cut back on your salt and any carbonated beverages.

  • Jillian, I lost a ton of weight fast when I had to cut out all processed food because of allergies. If you only eat whole foods: vegetables, fruits, meats, etc, it takes out a lot of the guess work on what you can have. I also found that I'm unable to snack, unless I plan ahead so that cut down on things a lot too.

    Good luck!

  • If you haven't changed your eating habits, it's most likely a horomonal shift that caused bloat (water retention).  That can shift your weight by as much as 5 to 10lbs, depending on the woman.

I have to say, I am envious.  I had to diet severely for 8 months prior to my wedding to get the look I wanted.  It's funny because everyone said my temper was kind of scary for that time period :P.

  • Actually, that's probably a good thing.

Depending on the fabric of your dress, it will stretch out and loosen up a bit as the day goes on.  You'll be in that thing for a long time, and the last thing you want is it sagging by dinner.

  • Hey, I hear ya!

My dress doesn't fit. I have three months, ordered a size larger ... did everything right, but my *ahem* ample bosom doesn't fit. I'm working on a new plan as we speak!

Agree with PPs. Watch sodium, drink water and opt for 'real' food.

    Good luck!

  • This! I find that I feel better as well, when I eat whole foods. When you go grocery shopping, shop primarily around the perimeter of the store, which is where all the whole, fresh foods are. If need be, go into the aisles afterwards. Good luck! I'm in a bit of the same boat...strapless dress, and a little back fat to eliminate.

  • Thank you everyone for the positive words and suggestions. We spent all weekend at Magic Mountain, and are gone every weekend until the wedding but I am determined cut my salt, sugar and sweets intake. No caffeine except for my coffee in the morning. Today I had a massive withdrawal headache at work. Cutting my carbs and bread intake, and upping my fresh fruits and veggies (mostly veggies). FI and my sons are being so supportive and encouraging me to not eat sweets and the normal junk I usually go for. I know I can do this.... Its just not easy.
