Hi everyone - I am throwing a Stock the Bar co-ed bridal for my friend and I am getting tripped up on the wording. My main concern is making sure that people understand exactly WHAT it is - that they should get something bar/drink themed from the registry and bring a bottle of alcohol, but I know it's tacky to make any kind of nod to a registry in an invite.
Any thoughts on how this might be done or should I assume that people will put it together themselves?

You should assume that this is a rude event, and rethink your plans all together. If you are hosting a shower, you can host a shower. But, stock the bar parties are rude.

[QUOTE]I have never heard of this. Is this a party where you bring booze for the wedding?

that's the only time I've ever heard of these. Basically, guests bring liquor to serve at the upcoming wedding.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re:Wording for Stock the Bar Invitation: No, it's to stock the couples personal bar. I don't personally mind the idea, but think it verges on the etiquette line. It's really no different than round the clock showers, diaper showers, or lingerie showers.

This. I find them kind of odd, but it really is no different than a themed shower.

I found this online and thought it was cute:
He loves whiskey and she loves wine
They also love barware so fine.
So bring some liquor, or even beer
as we wish them a lifetime of happiness and cheer.

[QUOTE]tacky or not tacky aside, how do people know what to bring? You could end up with 15 bottles of vodka and nothing else.

There's a problem with fifteen bottles of vodka? OP, people shouldn't be told what to bring or asked to bring both. Expensive bar glasses or even a nice mixer would be enough, without the spirits.
The one caveat is to make sure nobody invited has any kind of alcohol-related issue (non-drinker, alcoholic, etc.).
