Park Avenue Club vs. Bernards Inn

We've narrowed down our venues to Park Avenue Club and the Bernards Inn for a November 2013 wedding (yes, we are crazy!). If anyone has experience with either -- as a bride/groom or a wedding guest, I would love to hear it.

And if anyone has vendors in this area that they highly recommend, feel free to make recommendations. It will be a quick and crazy planning period, but I think we can pull it off!

Thanks in advance.

  • Thanks, Christine! We were thinking we would block rooms at the Westin Governor Morris, but it would be helpful to learn more about our options.

Vendors aren't allowed to post here and I'll be banning Christine as soon as she posts again. Her post is gone because she got reported as a vendor before I could ban, so she can still post until banned. Personally I would stay far away from a vendor who doesn't play by the rules! For a hotel recommendation in that area, check out Hanover Marriott. Beautiful hotel, really fun Irish pub in lobby! And free shuttle to and from the reception for guests.

  • Thanks, JCG. I was really turned off by the fact that she jumped in and didn't follow the rules. I didn't plan to reach out to her, but suppose I saying "thanks" is just hardwired into my brain! I was just grateful to have A response to my post! Haha. Thanks again.

I think we will use the Westin Governor Morris, but I will look into the Hanover Marriot. Thanks! Do you happen to know if they use the regular van shuttle or if they rent bigger buses? The Westin outsources the transportation, but builds it into the room rates so instead of running a bunch of smaller shuttles back and forth, they use the buses.

The Marriott also outsources transportation, and will arrange for a shuttle bus based on your room count.  So if you have a lot of guests staying there then yes, it will be a larger bus.

Also, for what it's worth, I stayed at that Hyatt in Morristown recently.  The room was nice enough, but I was really put off by the prices in the hotel bar.  Holy ripoff, Batman.
