Escort Cards/Programs

Hello Knotties!!!!!

It's been a while since my last post and wedding planning has been, well "going"... I think we're going at a pretty good speed, have most of the big vendor stuff down and just working on the small details... so I NEED HELP!!! ;) lol

I have a black, gold, ivory themed wedding... my tables are named after Pittsburgh landmarks.  We'll be using black and white photos as the markers, so I figured I could incorporate the same pic on the escort card, but if this does not work... what else could i do?!

Also, programs... I need some ideas... I'm trying to think of something "Pittsburgh-ish" but am having trouble coming up with ideas... I've recruited my Aunt to help make them, but I need to give her some ideas... HELP! :)

    i think kwynn has a graphic that is the outline of the city skyline. you could put that on the cover of your program. i used a square template for our programs because it was a little different. i had intended to put ribbons through the programs, but ran out of time. you could do black paper, print in white/light yellow and string them with gold ribbon.

    for the escort cards you might be able to incorporate the same graphic on to an escort card and have the names printed at the bottom, below the skyline.

    where is the wedding at? what kind of feel are you looking for?

    the wedding and ceremony is at the Mayernik Center in Avonworth... so it's a woodsy type atmosphere, but I'm rooting for minimalistic... I like the idea of the skyline for the programs... that's simple, yet elegant...

    I'm having my florist make a decorative vase for our escort card table... so I'm looking for something that stays on the table... I was also thinking about using bridges as the card... I know kwynn used chairs... so I thought using the same idea but with a different object would be neat...

    i did votive candles as our escort cards. i used a template to print the names on velum paper, cut them and used double side tape to affix the paper to the votive holder. i wrapped the top & bottom with ribbon (and to hide the imperfections) in our wedding colors (the colors also denoted what the meal choices were for each couple or individual). the candles in the holders were light and helped to illuminate the names. i put a sign out telling people to take their candles with them to their tables. it doubled as extra candles/decor on the tables.

    or, what about instead of bridges use specific city buildings instead. the table could be filled with a mixture of the buildings that make up the skyline....?

    Just as an FYI-- You can't print on black paper unless you take it to a printer to do offset printing. Digital printing color values are based on white paper.

    I would do the table photo for the escort cards. I think it would be a nice touch. Keep in mind that people leave behind their cards or toss them, so it is not a big deal to go above and beyond on these.
    I did small glass candy jars as escort cards (my favor was a candy buffet).

    Hey, you!

    I have an outline of the city of Pittsburgh that I used that I can send to you. I will respond back to your FB message and we can exchange email addresses that way. (It actually was part of a monogram, but I removed the letters for some projects, so it can be used by anyone).

    As far as programs, I once saw an amazing program that was horizontal in style and was a black and white photo of a bridge on the front. You could also get crazy with a die-cut program (could be a bit more money though). What about getting an old vintage postcard of Pittsburgh and then having it replicated as a program cover? Something like that? Mine just used Pittsburgh colors, but were fairly traditional in nature.

    If you wanted to be more unique, what about using "Pittsburghese" in your programs? You could play it up with "Dahn the Aisle" "Married n'at" etc.

    The chairs I made, I got from Martha Stewart. However, her dimensions were WAY off and resulted in an enormous chair! I changed it around and used smaller strips of cardstock that I cut. Then I just scored them and folded, secured with a glue dot.

    Maybe something like this custom made would be cute? ^^^

    I also have a cute idea...take a giant photo of one of the Pittsburgh bridges/landmarks. Then, carefully cut it into X pieces evenly. Inscribe a name on each. Hang each card with a pushpin or the like so that all together, they make up a giant photo of the bridge, yet serve as escort cards for individual guests.
