Paper lanterns...?

We're renting a 40' x 60' tent for our reception (whole wedding will be outdoors). I'd like to buy paper lanterns to hang from the ceiling. Anyone have suggestions for how many I should buy and what size(s)?

i have no idea about how many or size but pier 1 has gorgeous paper globe parts for them if you want large ones. they also sell plain white ones if you want to write/color etc.. on them. i'm not talking about the ones on the long strand with many lights on it-these are the shades for the individual lights. i'm nt sure if you were looking for the stand alones ones or the string of.
etsy.com also has really cute light strands if you want a special one for the front of your table. i was looking last week for ones for my patio and saw dragonflies etc.. very cute.

We had a 40x60 size tent.  I can't remember how many we had.  But I do know we had 2/3 of the lanterns in ivory 12 inch and 1/3 in brown 16 inch.  They strung from the corners to the middle.

Thanks! This is a great start. Probably better to buy too many than not enough (I have visions of a sad few hanging alone in a big white tent).

Congrats on your wedding and marriage! I'm doing an outdoor tent wedding in 9 days. Do you have any advice on hanging the lanterns? Did you use fishing line or something else? How did you attach the line to the poles? Knots? Tape? Or another method?

Any advice you have from your experience would be great!
